Frogi – ‘time’

About Frogi

In her own words frogi says, “I grew up outside of Chicago and moved to LA when I was 19, I sang and wrote songs with my two sisters growing up, I’ve been writing poems since I knew how to write and been singing since I knew how to speak. I lost someone very close to me when I was nineteen, and after that all I could do was write songs all the time. It was the only thing (besides my dog) that got me through it. I started out in an indie rock band called “After Arrows,” then went solo and went to UCLA extension to learn how to produce, then worked with an old time songwriter named Ned who used to write for the Monkees and the Archies in the 70s (he taught me a lot about the writing process, not taking myself too seriously, and gave me access to his studio so I would spend almost every day there writing and producing – forever grateful to Neddy) and now I’m doing sessions all over and writing for different people/projects.”

J Lind – ‘For What It’s Worth’

About J Lind

Born and raised in Phoenix, J Lind learned early on that inspiration can be found in unlikely spaces. Even so, Lind’s latest project—a record based on the reflections of hospice patients—is unconventional, to say the least.

Lind’s unusual approach to songwriting developed during his time as a student at Princeton. A frequent collaborator, Lind opened for the Grammy-nominated rapper, Big Sean, in the spring of 2015 and participated in songwriting seminars with artists ranging from Steve Martin to Rosanne Cash. Following the release of his debut EP in 2017, Lind studied philosophy at Oxford before continuing his work as a hospice volunteer in New Delhi, India.

J Lind’s forthcoming record, For What It’s Worth (2019), is a careful reflection on three years of experience in the world of hospice care. Supported by a Princeton fellowship, the record draws on the diverse soundscapes of artists such as Paul Simon and Peter Gabriel while invoking the direct, narrative lyric of acts like Passenger and Dawes. It is Lind’s hope that the project will serve to catalyze formative conversations on grief, loss, and acceptance.

Eva and the Vagabond Tales – ‘Please Keep Me’

About Eva and the Vagabond Tales

From the alleyways of old town Riverside, CA come the sounds of old world folk-pop that broke free from the early ages of music and skipped through time to find its way into our modern world. Throughout the journey, stories were turned into songs, forming Eva and the Vagabond Tales.

The Vagabond Tales is a multi-instrumental music project centered around the songwriting of Russian born Eva Mikhailovna. The songs combine western, old folk, and ragtime into a musical melting pot, creating an alluring sound that transcends time and continents. Building its sound from the foundations of old time music and melancholy storytelling, it bends the laws of traditional songwriting to become a sound all its own. Since the start of the project in 2011, Mikhailovna has self-released a full-length album entitled “Letters From the Moon” and the EP “La Douleur Exquise”. Her new album “Uncharted Ocean” is out on May 17th on Brooklyn’s Mother West label.

Currently, “The Vagabonds” (as Eva refers to her musicians) accompanying her live are long time members Jake Pflum (percussion), Alan Arteaga (banjo, electric guitar, ukulele), Jasmine Capitulo (accordion), and Benjamin Purper (bass). As the music continues to extend its fan base across the United States and with the release of Uncharted Ocean this spring the band will continue touring, and performing around the west coast with plans to head east in the summer and fall.
