Rachel Beck – ‘Warrior’
About Rachel Beck
Glowing with catchy pop hooks, Rachel Beck’s distinctive piano melodies and emotive vocals are captivating audiences across Canada. Her upcoming release, Stronger Than You Know, is a celebration of strength and resilience. It’s a gentle call to action — a call to stand up, to speak out, to be present, to love fiercely. The record shimmers with layered synths and lush strings, balanced by dynamic percussion and bass. But the focal point, the unifying force throughout, is Beck’s stunning voice.
Based on the success of her multi award-winning debut album, one might presume otherwise, but this Prince Edward Island songwriter’s journey to a career in music was anything but conventional. After completing degrees in psychology and education, teaching high school for ten years, and giving birth to three beautiful children, Beck found herself seeking a creative outlet. That outlet quickly transformed into passion and a wave of momentum following the release of her first single, Reckless Heart, which topped the CBC Music Top 20, ranked #4 in the CBC Music Fan Favourites of 2018, and earned a SOCAN #1 Award.
Mere months after releasing her self-titled debut, Rachel Beck took her own advice and leapt, leaving the security of her full-time teaching position to hit the road. Tour highlights include performing for Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall, appearing twice at the legendary Stan Rogers Folk Festival, opening the 2019 ECMA Gala Awards Show, and playing beautiful festivals and venues from the Rogue Folk Club in Vancouver, BC to the Imperial Theatre in Saint John, NB.

rx Soul – ‘Look Good, Feel Good’
About rx Soul
Born in Phoenix, Arizona, rx Soul has been fascinated with storytelling from a young age. What began as a knack for drawing short storybooks on the living room floor with his father evolved over the years to become a strong desire to create whole worlds out of music and sound. In college, he dove into music production, striving to improve and producing tracks for local rappers when he wasn’t working on his own. It was also around this time that he experienced a close call with death at the peak of Tucson’s Mount Lemmon, which he calls “an experience of true, animal fear.” This event, along with his growing love of music like The Weeknd’s Trilogy and Frank Ocean’s Channel Orange, changed his views on songwriting completely, and he began to focus on telling stories about the often dark, but very human experiences that give life such depth. This change marked the beginning of his identity as rx Soul. He made his official debut in late 2017 with the HypeMachine-topping “All The Way There” and hasn’t looked back since, dropping collaborations with Zomboy and Bear Grillz.

Carrousel – ‘Psychbabble Drama’
About Carrousel
Carrousel’s music revels within the eye of a storm: examining the fraught dystopia of current life and the spiraling process of depression, within an individual—and a nation. Comprising of Joel Piedt (songwriter, vocals, production) and Rosa Sharon (songwriter, vocals), the duo’s futurist pop melodies wane toward the prophetic, delineating several genres at once with enigmatic cohesion, and surprising grit. Inspired by industrial and psychedelic rock, new wave, New York boom bap and shoegaze, Carrousel comprehends creating music as the making of worlds; a world of sound NPR has described as “meticulous” and “head-turning. ” The music continually points to the disorienting nature of the present, and the overdigitalization of knowledge, with wry, boisterous scrutiny. Compository of neither the present nor past, Carrousel belongs instead to the illusory future—and the possibilities awaiting us there—including this new momentous ringing of sound.

John Carroll Kirby – ‘Blueberry Beads’
About John Carroll Kirby
Pianist, producer and composer John Carroll Kirby has announced his new album My Garden will be released on April 24th via Stones Throw Records.
The album, which was written, recorded and produced entirely by Kirby, is a pure distillation of his sound — soulful, spiritual, and evocative. Demonstrating perfectly why Kirby is the go-to collaborator for artists ranging from experimental auteurs Bat for Lashes and Connan Mockasin to pop megastars Harry Styles and Kali Uchis, and R&B innovators Solange and Frank Ocean, My Garden is also a testament to the clarity and singularity of Kirby’s vision.
A Los Angeles native, Kirby composes music as though traveling through time and space, warmly melting the seasons of his terrain from one mood to the next. The first single “Blueberry Beads” from the LP, which also serves as the album opener, begins with deep and punchy piano chords, easing into a soft electric synth-groove that floats and flutters as it builds into a bigger and brighter funk dream. The song was inspired by Kirby’s travels and spiritual teachings, specifically Kirby’s guru, Sri Dharma Mittra, and his Rudraksha prayer beads that embody a playful yet devoted spirit, much like the artist himself.

Jordana – ‘Signs’
About Jordana
Originally from North Beach, Maryland, Jordana self-released Classical Notions Of Happiness in 2019 and saw a Pitchfork track review for the standout track “Intrusive Thoughts” and also caught the ear of The Needle Drop’s Anthony Fantano who reviewed the stand out track from the original album, “Jackie’s 15”. Jordana produces and records all of her songs in her bedroom, truly living the bedroom-pop descriptor. Her three new songs, “Sway”, “Signs” and “Crunch”, showcase the direction this exciting young artist is taking with larger production, deep bass grooves and fuzzed-out guitars, distancing herself from the more folk-skewed songs that proliferate Classical Notions Of Happiness. Jordana’s music is of the moment, she’s a 19-year-old with an ear for creating catchy, compelling, songs that don’t lose any of their honest emotional depths in their joy. Jordana will be on tour this spring, tour dates to be announced soon.
