Mikalyn – ‘Better Habits’

About Mikalyn

Mikalyn’s ascent in the music business has been an atypical journey thus far. She gained an initial unconventional foothold when a Brazilian record label called REVEN BEATS discovered her original / piano-driven music on Soundcloud and offered to transform them into Dance & EDM hits. What followed were monster collaborations with the likes of Öwnboss, Jetlag Music, Evokings, RQntz, Kohen, among others. These collabs, released in labels such as Universal, Sony and Controversia / Spinnin’, although not the direction she expected to take at the beginning of her career, were crucial stepping stones in building her repertoire and fanbase, ultimately introducing new listeners to her original alt-pop stylings. The Canadian singer-songwriter from Guelph pens relatable songs which touch on relationships and her experienced emotions. Inspired by the likes of Adele, Billie Eilish, Halsey, Lana Del Rey, Melanie Martinez and Ellie Goulding, Mikalyn’s sound is a vibrant and colourful blend of infectious pop melodies, soaring vocals and polished production. With millions of streams for her music to date, she has received airplay on CBC radio and her songs being placed on numerous Spotify editorial playlists, including Indie Pop, Bedroom Pop, EQUAL Canada and Brazil’s Dance Paradise – where she was featured on the cover. With a one-of-a-kind style and unwavering drive, Mikalyn shows no signs of slowing down on her already impressive trajectory as she launches her indie-pop career.

Simón – ‘Why I’

About Simón

Simón, also known as Simon Villamizar, is a 17 year old singer songwriter born and raised in Miami’s multicultural community. He comes from a musical family of Colombian descent that includes a Latin Grammy ® winning mother LinaLuna and multi Grammy ® winner uncle, Jorge Villamizar from the band Bacilos. Growing up in Miami exposed Simón to music in both English and Spanish which is very apparent when listening to his music. Simón started to write songs at age 15, while traveling a summer with his Ukulele and was just as surprised as the rest of his musical family when he discovered that he had the gift of songwriting ability. As he continued to learn music at school and private classes with some of the best musicians in Miami, he also realized that he is very fortunate to have perfect pitch allowing him to “know” notes without reference. Simón has drawn inspiration from many different places, so his music is hard to categorize, but its relevance and sense of being current is undeniable. While some of his songs might sound easy going and light, others are deeper and have a heavy trap influence. Whatever Simón does, he wants to make sure his work is always fresh, new and current. Simón spends most of his time singing, playing the piano, guitar, ukulele, drums and all whilst also being a teenager with his friends.
