We’re ecstatic to unveil the official video for ‘Chrysalis‘ by Ghostcake, here on Last Day Deaf. This is a vivid, self-crafted journey that’s as trippy as it is transformative. Ghostcake poured her heart into every frame of her debut video, which she directed, designed, and edited herself, capturing the surreal beauty of change.
As she describes it: “‘Chrysalis’ was crafted with love and vision, but it’s still open to personal interpretation. For me, it’s about transformation – the beauty of blooming into something new, while still honoring who you’ve been. The song itself reflects my own journey through that process. I wanted the video to capture the poetry of that feeling – that even as you change, you remain connected to your inner self, every sunbeam and daydream that shaped who you are.”
‘Chrysalis‘ invites listeners to dive deep into their own metamorphosis, a visual and sonic homage to self-discovery. Prepare to be mesmerized.

Bio:
Ghostcake is an electronic producer and visual artist known for her innovative blend of experimental synth-pop, retro vibes and layered soundscapes. 2024 marked the release of their debut ‘sonderhaunts,’ a fully realized EP that has reached 100,000 streams on Spotify.
Ghostcake’s production process involves starting with a single sound or melody that captivates her, often sparking a feeling or childhood memory. From there, she carefully shapes it into a dynamic composition that leaves room for interpretation. “I tend to gravitate towards dreamy, ethereal sounds and textures as they hold a personal sense of nostalgia for me,” the artist explains. “I love the ambiguity of an instrumental track, and its potential to mean so many things to different listeners.”
The process of experimentation and discovery is at the heart of Ghostcake’s sound. “Years ago, I was just a ghost with a guitar, and you’d be hard-pressed to find a single synth in any of my songs,” she notes. “I’ve always loved experimenting with sound because that’s where the magic happens. I don’t resist change when it comes to my creative process – there’s always more to discover, and that’s a beautiful thing.”
