Tonight we feel stoked to host the exclusive track premiere by music composer & artist from Solihull, Christof R Davis, and the opening composition of his forthcoming album ‘Wayfinding‘, ‘Departure‘. A transcendent, highly cinematic, neoclassical/ambient treasure that prepares the listener for a boundless journey. After all ‘Departure‘ is about all of those journeys never taken, the leaps never trusted and the ‘what might have beens’.

At a time when the world stopped, some journeys were beginning. . . … Wayfinding is a deeply personal collection of music written & recorded between August 2020 and January 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic. The album evokes stories of journeys (both real & fictional) and discovery. Pad-like ambient synths built from sampled acoustic instruments are blended with vocal textures, pianos (acoustic and electric) and an array of percussion. Gentle chordal waves give way to unexpected rhythmic cacophony, simple and spacious tracks sit alongside cinematic productions, and the album takes you through moments of calm, grief, excitement and love.
Bio:
Christof R Davis is a music composer / artist from Solihull (near Birmingham), UK who creates film, television, game and stage music alongside more commercial work. He has an eclectic style which blends elements of minimalism and classical music with electronic synths and samples. He studied at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester and has worked extensively as a session musician (playing keyboards/piano, drums and percussion) with a range of artists. His work has been broadcast on television and radio, and his most recent film score was for the British feature film ‘Messalina’s Offer’ which is streaming now on Amazon Prime
