Are you ready for some indie melodies that will seep into your brain? If so, then Colorado indie-rockers Augustus. will be the ones for this “task”, since today’s premiere ‘Things Got A Way Of Changing‘, is a stab at the world of “lazy” melody. Let me explain, this is an awesome slow-burner that gets better with repeated play. The psych elements are ideally mixed with the indie flavour to create a unique result of musicianship.
But enough, from us, really flattered for this exclusive. Hope you do enjoy too!
‘Things Got A Way Of Changing‘ is taken from Augustus’ 4th EP ‘Idle‘ out Fall 2018.
Press Release:
Colorado indie-rockers Augustus have confirmed the release of their fourth EP Idle, out Fall 2018. Full of the expansive psych-rock that has garnered the band national attention since forming in late 2013, the five original songs on Idle build on Augustus’ distinctively rugged sound and marks a continued evolution for a group whose beginnings were of a more humble, acoustic nature.
The first track released from the EP “Spitting Up Glass” features driving rhythms and soaring guitars and vocals recalling the music of Tame Impala, Pond and others. Lead singer Colin Kelly says “I feel like I’ve always been chasing down this sound, early 1970’s rock guitar mixed with contemporary indie rock ideas. Now that we’re a quartet, it feels more natural.” Alongside Kelly the band is made up of guitarist Jim Herlihy, bassist Marshal Carlson, and drummer Ryan Healy.
The song follows another single released earlier this year, not included on the EP, “Demons,” the video to which was made in collaboration with Brooklyn filmmaker Van Nguyen. The captivating and touching video features footage of a traditional funeral in Vietnam for the filmmaker’s grandmother, a 3 day ceremony that includes mourning, a magic show, a play, dragons, demons, monkeys and more.
Having spent the last few years touring nationally as well as playing festivals and garnering critical acclaim at SXSW the band returns to the Northeast this May for a sweeping 19 day, 16 show tour that will bring them through Chicago, Philly, New York City, Boston, Burlington, and Montreal. See below for full tour dates.
