8 recent gems from the dark spectrum, from dark wave to cold wave and from minimal synth to post punk, and everything in between as long as its “bleak”. Essential for every “creature of the night”!

Low Monroe is a new band coming from Australia, and their debut single ‘Second Try Theme’ is a fascinating hybrid of 80s new wave and modern post punk, while their love for artists like Talking Heads, Public Image Ltd., New Order but also more underground acts like Blurt & This Heat, cannot be hidden. Yup, these chaps are not afraid to experiment, and we’ll definitely expect their next release. But, until then…..

CRYWOLVES’ ‘Jettison the Jetsons’ is a well balanced blend of alternative rock with post punk and is a phlegmatic view on “us seeking the meaning of life…” Catchy and with a cool visualizer!

Another debut song, this time by Anglo-French outfit Bulb, a powerful post punk banger standing up against racism and police brutality, and a great sample of the soon to follow 5 track EP….

One-man post punk, dark & gothic artist The Sweet Kill’s ‘Cold’ is an anthemic post punk/dark wave song, ideal for fans of early-era Interpol & Editors, that will set the mood for endless dancing in your nearest “batcave” party!

Mexican act Futuremen’s latest single ‘0’ is a compelling minimal synth/”wave” instrumental composition with spine-chilling synth work and immense driving force…. Ideal for endless night drives through the “urban void”….

‘The Grey’ is the title song from the 2022’s 3-track EP by My Manifesto, and is an ultra catchy 116 second, post punk/dark wave ear-candy, which according to the band was heavily influenced by The Cure’s ‘Faith’ and Depeche Mode’s ‘Some Great Reward’. On endless repeat!

The language barrier is not a problem to connect with the music of the Spanish Dark-Wave project out of South Central Los Angeles PODEROSA, since they are more than capable of creating intense dark wave hymns like ‘ADIOS’, and soundtrack our darker thoughts and emotions…. According to the band, this song is abou the past and letting it go….

Finishing with the Bristol Based dark fuzz three piece Holy Reptile, with their superb single ‘Bad Moon’ which is a spotless mixture of fuzz rock with dark wave. Prepare yourselves for some authoritative “fuzzy walls of sound contrasted by subdued lyrics that explore differing emotional states“.
