Saudade is the name of a new supergroup formed by Deftones‘ frontman Chino Moreno together with Bad Brains guitarist Dr. Know, former Bad Brains drummer Mackie Jayson, Chuck Doom from Moreno’s band Crosses, and keyboardist John Medeski. In Portuguese “saudade” expresses an emotional state of profound melancholic longing; the love that stays when someone is lost.
The band has released their self-titled first single through BitTorrent, an instrumental piece, which admittedly justifies its title with a sentimental, lamenting introduction and hammering guitar solos suddenly bursting the wall pain.
