On 29th August Cold Cave announced their latest release, the 7’ picture disc ‘The Idea Of Love/Rue The Day’ in 5000 physical copies, and also in digital release, both of them out on September 9th, and according to the statement they posted on their website: “’The Idea Of Love‘ is Cold Cave at its most passionate, coolest, punkest and rawest, recalling the early primitive recordings that made up the ‘Cremations‘ release, even using much of the same salvaged and battered thrift store equipment as used on those early recordings. It should be clear by now that Cold Cave is existing in their own world, releasing music in any format and at any time they choose. An evolution by its own rules, laughing happily outside of the tired norm that is music industry convention”.
For almost ten years now, the band has released plenty of songs filed under the synthwave/cold wave genre and been gaining the fans’ admiration. ‘The Idea Of Love’ is a coldwave electrocution, best enjoyed on the dance floor!
