German alternative rock band Aedon have just released their second studio EP ‘Raise Your Voice’. Filled with light and emotive vocals, and dense guitars to soothe the rock addiction, it’s 3 tracks of uplifting magic. Recorded in Hamburg at the Chefrock Studio via invitation of platinum hit-makers, the EP was produced by Peter Keller and Bertram Engel, heavyweights in the German pop scene and both members of Peter Maffay’s band. ‘Raise Your Voice’ marks the first collaborative production for Keller and Engel.
Eponymous ‘Raise Your Voice’ begins the EP, oozing hopefulness and tranquility, an encouragement of love, with tender and attentive vocals from singer Simon Gatzka and twinges of delicate guitar licks from Maximilian Krüger. One can only imagine how the song would sound live as well, with the energy and passion matched from the audience. ‘Change This World’ takes a darker turn than the previous track, with heavier instrumentation from the rhythm section (drummer Stephan Nabbefeld and bassist Alexander Dachwitz) as well as Krüger. It’s screaming early 2000s rock vibes, somewhat reminiscent of the emotional buoyancy paired with topics of loss and love of bands such as Switchfoot or Needtobreathe. ‘Raise Your Voice’s release also marks the premiere of ‘Change This World’s music video, so prep your eyes! Final track ‘Gentle Rain’ is sweet through and through, with sympathetic and yet again lovely vocals from Gatzka, the tune would be fitting for a romantic mixtape.
