What inspired you to first start making music? And how did you come to be in your current incarnation? Or if you prefer, a brief bio about you.

I’ve always been making music in bands, aside from my main band ‘Itchy Teeth’ I also have this solo side project called ‘captain fix & the midnight honeys’, where I produce records in my bedroom – living out all my musical fantasies 😀
I also make music for cartoons and I think that’s started to influence my music a lot – hence why I thought it would be perfect to work with Julia on this latest video.

Provide us with some info about your latest release…

The video is a collaboration with animator Julia Specht, I love Julia’s work and it was amazing seeing her process. I have this axolotl cartoon character called Juan Planet who floats around my head alot, Julia took him as a basis and made ‘Jelly world’ come to life, with a story about Juan feeling shy but ready to mingle amongst his psychedelic surroundings and friends.
The song is from my latest album ‘smile powers’.

Which ones would you consider your main influences both music-wise & non-music-wise?

My biggest influences music wise are my band mates in Itchy Teeth and other musician friends I play with like Joel Sarakula.
Non music – probably Jim Carrey.

In what way does your sound differ from the rest genre-related artists/bands and why should we listen to your music? In other words, how would you describe your sound?

I’m not sure why you should listen to me more than others, although obviously I’m glad if you do! haha… but we are in this cool era where making records yourselves at home isn’t such a niche thing to do anymore and it’s an interesting time for the genre where bedroom pop is expanding pretty fast and it’s cool to hear music made at home with no expectations except for the fun of making it 🙂 I like to think my last album ‘smile powers’ is pretty groovy and relaxing, so I reckon if you want to feel chilled but fonky in your downtime it’s a good place to go.

Please name your 3 desert islands albums, movies & books…

Charlie Hannah – A Hannah in the Works
The Flaming Lips – Zaireeka
Todd Rundgren – A Wizard a True Star

Do you prefer studio or performing live and why?

I love both – I couldn’t imagine one without the other.

Is there any funny-unique story you would like to share with us, always in relation to your music ‘career’?

Which track of your own would you point out as the most unique and why?

‘dream all night’ – from my album ‘love from the angel gun’ – i think I was onto something strange there!

Would you like to share with our readers your future plans?
