Deep within Montreal’s enduring winters, three musicians—Francois Jalbert, guitarist, composer, and producer; Mélanie Bélair, violinist, arranger, and composer; and Aurélien Tomasi, composer, arranger, and performer—gathered. Amidst the city’s bustling music scene, they sought solace, yearning for a slower, more serene escape from commercial pressures. Snowflakes drifted outside as they explored their surroundings: a slide whistle, a Juno, and guitar pedals. Thus, Caméra was born. Inspired by the Matsutake mushroom and a poignant scene from “My Neighbor Totoro,” the single fuses 1980s synth with organic instrumentation, crafting a unique soundscape resonating with tranquility and nostalgia.

Matsutaké captures the essence of tranquility amidst rain-soaked anticipation, echoing the film’s charm with its own musical allure.
