Hailing from Brooklyn, musician Alexei Shishkin has recently graced us with his full-length album Goodbye Sunrise, from which we’ve singled out Sixth Of July as a standout. In just 115 seconds, Alexei crafts a jangly and lo-fi rock triumph, drawing elements from iconic bands like lo-fi Gods Pavement, livig legends Built To Spill, and indie mavericks Neutral Milk Hotel. The artist’s DIY ethos is seamlessly interwoven with a new wave essence reminiscent of bands such as Television Personalities and Swell Maps. This track stands as a super cool homage to some of the most revered names in the music scene, skillfully paying tribute to these influences in the best possible way.
