Californian singer-songwriter Gregory Ackerman is set to release ‘Brand New Life’ an EP of 5 tracks of cozy indie via Netherlands-based label Polymoon this May. The EP is a follow up to 2021’s self-released sophomore LP ‘Still Waiting Still’.
Title track ‘Brand New Life’ is languorous, perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon or anytime you feel like basking in jangly mellow indie. An incredibly sweet and somewhat sensual track, ‘Brand New Life’ is a hopeful love song which is on par for the rest of the EP, tunes for looking up at the stars with opportunities and dreams on your mind. ‘Breaking My Heart’ is possibly my favorite, a plucky number with top-notch instrumentation towards the end, it’s cathartic, able to pacify stress with its pop stability and ethereal noise ending. ‘Luckier Still’ has a confident classic americana spirit and is another highlight. The warm, sun-filled songs are rife for the imagination purely on production and instrumentation alone.
Like putting on soft socks on a cold winter’s evening, or the way butter fills the nooks in crumpets, ‘Brand New Life’ has you covered visualizing all the miniscule mundane moments that bring pleasure. Be prepared to have your mood lifted by this EP!
