Dobet Gnahoré, a highly acclaimed artist from Ivory Coast, is gearing up for her forthcoming album Zouzou (early 2024) by unveiling the first of three singles. The captivating track, Ayoka, which translates to “Thank You Very Much” in the Bété language, brilliantly showcases Gnahoré’s mastery of afropop. With its infectious energy, funky stutter-beat groove, and irresistible melodic hooks that invite sing-alongs, Ayoka is a true gem. The song was expertly produced by the talented Momo Wang, also known as Dr. Wang (associated with Aya Nakamura), while the vibrant music video was filmed at the picturesque Lagune Aguien on the outskirts of Abidjan, and directed by Jyphael Tayorault.
