It’s sad but true, but Pete Burns is another sad addition in 2016’s ‘Another One Bites The Dust’ series! Dead Or Alive‘s founder, and later TV celebrity, died from massive cardiac arrest last Monday. Pete rose to fame with the 80’s anthem ‘You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)‘, which became a massive hit all over the world, hitting even the US Top 20. But was Burns, only this song? The answer is definitely negative for this restless, talented personality!

Before forming Dead Or Alive, Burns worked at a Liverpool record shop, Probe Records, a meeting point for local musicians, and an “Elementary School” for his later career. The short-lived, punk outfit The Mystery Girls was his first ‘experiment’, that led him form the proto-Goth band Nightmares In Wax in late ’70’s, with whom never released a full-length album apart from only a 7″ single, ‘Birth Of A Nation‘ ( 12” single ‘Black Leather‘ contains the same songs). Later, the name changed to Dead Or Alive. The rest is history….

You spin me right round, baby
Right round like a record, baby
Right round round round
You spin me right round, baby
Right round like a record, baby
Right round round round

Among the people who paid tribute to Burns, was Boy George, who described Burns as “one of our great true eccentrics“.

Goodbye Pete!
