Alt-rock god Thurston Moore has released a new single, ‘Cease Fire‘, with a heavy anti-gun theme. “Guns are designed to kill and we, as non-violent human beings, are against the killing of any person or animal. The song is also about the power of love, in all its freedom of choice,” Moore states. “A power that no gun can extinguish as love will rule always. Melt down your guns and kiss your neighbour.

Along with the single he’s announced an assortment of live dates where he’ll be joined by Steve Shelley (Sonic Youth, Sun Kil Moon), Deb Googe (My Bloody Valentine, Primal Scream) and James Sedwards (Nought, Chrome Hoof). ‘Cease Fire‘, whose second half is almost entirely made up of guitar solos, is available for free download on Moore’s website and you can listen to it below:
