California-based producer Fletcher Reed released ‘Changemymind‘ – a lofi, r&b EP – this past week via Nettwerk. Differing from Reed’s prolific outpouring in 2022 (EPs such as ‘Bedtime Covers’, ‘Dream Better’, and ‘hyper.reality’), this EP includes vocals on each track, as a compliment to the laidback and cozy production. ‘Changemymind’ is a frosty tune, reminiscent of different stages of water; icy isolation, the ebb and flow of our minds, and the stable consistency of drops of rain. Each track has an elemental vibe to it, with ‘Human’s production reminding me of the ether yet again. It features Berlin-based producer/singer CHUFI. ‘Anymore’ featuring LA-based singer Alana Hil and ‘Sleepwalking Again’ with Reed’s labelmate Portair both have pop sensibilities and are definite standouts. Lest we forget ‘Lucid Luv’ featuring UK based singer/songwriter Bryonii: easy to lose yourself in, and perfect for 2am listening. There’s something about Reed’s style that radiates glass half full energy, and throughout ‘Change My Mind’ it has the ability to match your pleasant mood or elevate a negative one.
For fans of: lofi, bedroom indie, & playlists who’s cover art features a girl at a laptop. If you know, you know.
