Singer-songwriter Greta Kline and her backing band that from Frankie Cosmos have announced extended tour dates in support of their most recent album ‘Vessel‘. Now that we’ve gotten that bit of news out of the way: you – yes, you – have an opportunity to co-write Frankie Cosmos’ next album. Kline’s ‘An Induced Album‘ is an album in which fans will follow instructions, filling in blanks. Most of the six tracks require some sort of musical/instrumental knowledge but it’s hoped some can “be done by anyone who sets their mind to it,” and for those of you who fall in the latter category Kline provided a link to 10 online instruments that might broaden your beginner knowledge. Track one asks that you record yourself humming and write a counter-melody to the verse (“When the paint chips and you call it quits / don’t even try / to tell me why / you think I’m shit / like it is all new what you’re used to / when I am taking away / what made you stay”), while track two asks you to observe strangers out in the world and write questions you’d like to ask them for lyrics among other things. The ‘An Induced Album‘ seems to be a massive game of musical Madlibs, and as Kline puts it, “There are no ultimate versions of these songs, only infinite versions.” Check out all the details of how you can be involved at Frankie Cosmos’ website.
