What inspired you to first start making music? And how did you come to be in your current incarnation? Or if you prefer, a brief bio about you.
(George Moukos): Every band member grew up aesthetically in the 90s when the idea of having a band was the dream of every music player, no matter the instrument. This idea of expressing oneself through music with other people was the first common ground we all had. The band was formed in 1999 and it got its last form in 2012. Since then we released two albums, ”A New Disease” (2016) and “In-Between” (2019) and before that we have released “Sediment Bruise” album in 2007.
Provide us with some info about your latest release…
“In-Between” is our third album. Although it did not started as one, now it is safe to say that it is a concept album regarding modern everyday life and values. It is a classic example of inspiration taking over and showing us the way. It consists of 9 songs.
Which ones would you consider your main influences both music-wise & non-music-wise?
Radiohead, Deus, Massive Attack, Sigur Ros, Royksopp, Tool, Arcade Fire… and the list could go on forever. Non-music-wise anything can be of great influence. The relationships with other people, out family, a nice run on a mountain, a fight with a spouse or another band member etc.
In what way does your sound differ from the rest genre-related artists/bands and why should we listen to your music? In other words, how would you describe your sound?
If it was possible for every member of the band to answer this question you would get six completely different views of what this band sounds like and where its focus should be. So it differs from every sound genre because there are at least 3 members of the band in each song who are playing a different genre than the other 3.
Please name your 3 desert islands albums, movies & books…
Albums: Tool-Lateralus, Pink Floyd- Animals, dEUS-Pocket revolution
Movies: Interstellar, Rebecca, The Great Dictator
Books: Harry Potter, Dune, In search of lost time (well…if anything on a desert island one has time…)
Do you prefer studio or performing live and why?
Studio performing is always more relaxed and careless but a great live performance, where you can listen the crowd holding its breath after the end of each song is something truly unique and can be compared with very few feeling in the world.
Is there any funny-unique story you would like to share with us, always in relation to your music ‘career’?
When we were being interviewed by ET3 for the volume sessions show, our singer was making fun of everybody. The result was that in the final cut he got 2 and a half seconds of air time, firing our base player.
Which track of your own would you point out as the most unique and why?
”No Bonds Between Us” is the song I urge every person to listen to. I think it captures best the common vision of what sediment’s music is and should be.
Would you like to share with our readers your future plans?
Our future plans are touring around Greece for a small period of time, possible concerts in specific places in Europe and recording new material as soon as possible.
Free question!!! (Ask yourself a question) you wish to answer and haven’t been given the opportunity…
We are pro science as a band, Earth is not flat, Evolution is happening, climate change is real and for God’s sake vaccinate your children…
