What inspired you to first start making music? And how did you come to be in your current incarnation? Or if you prefer, a brief bio about you.
OzNor is a one man instrumental studio project formed in 2019 mostly influenced by heavy metal. The man behind is Ozi who has been playing the guitar and writing some songs for some years but due to other activities never got to establish a full band. The framework of the songs were born between 2010 to 2019 and i decided to bring my demos into life in 2019. It is a fully self-funded and self-released project. The decision to make an oficial record was made after some friends listened to the really rough demos and liked them. And in 2019 you have incredible options to make music in ways that would not have been possible ten years ago. All the guitars and bass are played and recorded by Ozi, other intruments are “programmed”.
Provide us with some info about your latest release…
The latest release is the EP “Shattered Illusion” containing of 5 songs. Even though instrumental, the album is dealing with the states of human mind going through after dissapointment. Sometimes not everything is working out as expected or you would want but you have to come over with it. Hence the songs “Shattered Illusions”, “Lost dreams”, “Contemplations”, “Silver Lining”, “Piece of Mind” represent five states you are going through when your “dream” do not come true. You have to mourn, think about and finally find new visions to deal with the dissapointment.
Which ones would you consider your main influences both music-wise & non-music-wise?
I listen to a wide spectrum of music from rock (e.g. Joe Satriani) to black metal (e.g. Mayhem) but i even listen to folk or orchestral music from time to time so i guess in the end all these have some influence on the melodies and riffs that i have in mind.
In what way does your sound differ from the rest genre-related artists/bands and why should we listen to your music? In other words, how would you describe your sound?
Tough question, but i think it is always more about the ideas, song structures, melodies, etc. like the sound itself. The sound itself is something one could work on forever. 🙂 Nevertheless, i wanted the first album “Stormbringer” to sound a little bit harsh with heavy distortion, maybe even a little bit muddy, but still keep the clearness to evoke a “stormy” sound, the EP “Shattered Illusion” is clearer with more distinct instruments and more pads but still the distorted guitars rule.
Please name your 3 desert islands albums, movies & books…
Manowar – Triumph of steel, Metallica – Master of puppets, Iron Maiden – Be quick or be dead. But in the end it is hard to choose, there is a lot of great stuff which i should name here.
Do you prefer studio or performing live and why?
Since OzNor is a one-man and self-released project a live performance is not planned at least at the moment.
Is there any funny-unique story you would like to share with us, always in relation to your music ‘career’?
Unfortunately no funny story yet, but the band is quite young so some stories will hopefully come up.
Which track of your own would you point out as the most unique and why?
Maybe the song “Stormbringer” or “Shattered Illusions”. Both represent OzNor in full scale with regards to song structure and melodies. But i like as well the song “Midnight Hour” which is a ballad (more or less).
Would you like to share with our readers your future plans?
OzNor is going to release a second full length album, perhaps sometimes in autumn 2020. I am working as well on a second project that won’t be heavy though. In the end I hope to find some fans around the world who will enjoy the music and i can deliver more stuff.
Free question!!! (Ask yourself a question) you wish to answer and haven’t been given the opportunity…
