Brooks Dixon

‘After All’

[folk/americana]

Press Notes:

Like his home amongst the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Dixon’s sound represents a meeting place Appalachian folk, classic folk-pop singer-songwriters like James Taylor and Bob Dylan, and Carolina beach music and tradional motown soul. Brooks Dixon began performing his original music as a student at Clemson University first taking the stage in 2012. Dixon’s acoustic performances lead to the recording of his first EP, the independently released “Stone Pile” in 2014.

Upon graduation of college, Brooks returned to his hometown of Greenville, South Carolina, where he quickly gained momentum playing the local bars and coffee shops, drawing comparisons to Folk-Pop icons James Taylor and Ray LaMontange. After meeting fellow Greenville Singer-Songwriter Sara Middleton. The two teamed up with other Greenville players to form the group “Brooks Dixon & The Noble Sound”. Shortly after, they found themselves performing their unique soulful harmonies for thousands at Downtown Alive. Dixon set out to Nashville to record a second EP “Weather the Storm” in early 2016. In large part, due to the band, Dixon found his songs taking on a fuller more robust Americana tone.

“Weather the Storm” lead to new heights for Brooks and the band, as they found their way on stage at numerous regional festivals and clubs throughout the Southeast. Shortened in name and members, the “Brooks Dixon Band” found cohesion with a 5 piece group, Dixon on vocals and guitar, Giffin’s smooth harmonies and occasional lead vocals, Shane Byler on the Drums, Ross Krieg on the Saxophone, and Bennett Dixon on the bass. The group hit the studio in early 2017 and released their first band single “Good Intentions” a song featuring a more upbeat take on Dixon’s songwriting.

In early 2018, Dixon released “White Roses” a 5 song EP drenched in Americana style. Utilizing a talented group of Nashville musicians, it presents a softer, more rustic side of Dixon’s songwriting. Despite this change in style, the continued success of the funky-folky-rock band, and the addition of Jake Watson on bass, lead to the beginning of a new debut album from the Brooks Dixon Band, titled “Pocketful of Dreams” released in late 2019, this album presents a fun, upbeat style meant to capture the essence of the Brooks Dixon Band’s live performances.

ghostcoast

‘there’s no going home’

[folk/indie psych]

Press Notes:

ghostcoast is a high, lonesome landscape, circled by memory and myth.

ghostcoast is psychedelic indie folk full of introspection and mysticism — a hallucinogenic blend of Americana and heartfelt lyrics.

the project marks a new point of departure for songwriter greg walters.

greg is best known as the frontman for tiny victories, the electronic indie band singled out by npr’s all songs considered, wnyc’s soundcheck, pitchfork, time out ny and new york magazine.

after years recording and touring with tiny victories, from bonnaroo to sxsw, greg stepped away from the electronic experimentation that defined tiny victories’ signature sound and returned to his roots as a guitar player.

greg spent months writing dozens of songs for the new project. the first to be released, ‘santa fe,’ recounts a moment in time that’s now a distant memory: a road trip through the desert when the chaos of the world snapped together into harmony.

these songs were mixed by rick parker (lord huron) and produced by greg’s brother, doug walters, aka grey goon (foreign air, odnesse).

JD Nash

‘Cali Comfort’

[alt-country/singer-songwriter]

Press Notes:

Rock | Alt. Folk | Alt. Country | singer songwriter JD Nash has experienced a little bit of everything, touring across the US in previous bands, while dabbling in a handful of different genres over the last decade. His latest release, mixed and mastered by Chris Common (Le Butcherettes, Chelsea Wolfe, Antemasque), points listeners towards classic rock influences from the 60s and 70s while adding touches of more modern Alternative Folk and Alternative Country.

For fans of Wilco, Jeff Tweedy, Kansas, The Eagles, Father John Misty, Israel Nash, and Midlake.

Christy

‘Forever’

[folk/acoustic]

Press Notes:

At 24, Christy O’Donnell has already lived out several unlikely dreams. He’s busked the streets of Glasgow making £400 a day. He’s been in a boy band, Supernova (“Busted meets One Direction – the music was terrible”); he’s played the lead in an indie film, Moondogs, and he’s currently two seasons in as a romantic hero in the time-travelling Disney series Find Me In Paris. He’s even climbed Arthur’s Seat with Rufus Wainwright… But beneath the young Glaswegian’s many incarnations is a serious musician about to unleash his first EP (August 2020): a suite of songs which mix the vocal tenderness of Jeff Buckley or Chris Martin with the swirling musicality of Bon Iver. Though intensely personal, this is not simple, singer- songwriter territory: the effervescent O’Donnell counts Ray Charles, John Martyn and Chet Baker as among his biggest musical influences.

Charlie Grant

‘Crash & Burn’

[indie folk]

Press Notes:

UK native Charlie Grant got his first break in music as a songwriter for hire, landing cuts with Melanie C, Michael Patrick Kelly, Simply Red, Robert Miles, Marco Mengoni and Leslie Clio, among many others.

However, the original dream of writing and releasing music as an artist in his own right refused to stay quiet for long and kept pestering him from the back of his mind…so, pulling in favours and forming a new currency based on pints of beer owed to various musician friends and studio owners, Charlie got used to recording in the dead of night and set to work on a heartfelt set of songs focused on musicianship, storytelling, and song craft.

Charlie has independently released several singles as well as the EP’s “Chemistry” and “Astronaut” and will put out his next single, “Love Letters on December 12th 2019 via all major digital outlets.

Belle Tower

‘She Moves In Phases’

[indie folk/lo-fi]

Press Notes:

Belle Tower is the lo-fi indie folk rock project of Isabella Harned. Isolation, solitude, pain, love and healing are key themes at the heart of Belle Tower’s upcoming EP, tend to; songs that are heavy in their vulnerability, but that simultaneously carry you weightless through the processing of emotions.

Kerryn Fields

‘Queenie’

[americana/acoustic]

Press Notes:

Fuelled by humility, integrity and a raw clarity of vision, Kerryn Fields paints enduring musical portraits that detail the colour and feeling of everything that makes us human.

Drawing comparisons with the likes of timeless creators, Cat Stevens, Townes Van Zandt, Joan Baez, Neil Young, and more, Fields’ trademark warmth of character – evident in both life and music – fuels a creative offering that’s equal parts captivating, refined and heartrendingly insightful.

It’s for good reason too, because life is something this artist has lived. Fields grew up in Te Kūiti, NZ, a farming community in which both her family and others’ work hard to make ends meet. With Mum on guitar and Dad fuelling an obsession with radio, cassettes and vinyl LPs by all of music’s greats, there was a life lesson in every song of Fields’ childhood.

Duane Hibbard

‘Lookin For’

[country/rock]

Press Notes:

I’ve been playing in bands and writing songs since 1992. My first big push and most successful was with my Psycho Rockabilly band Uncle Tiki. After a good 4 years of gigging and recording we called it quits. I then moved on to Country Spice and the Racks, Tiki DeVille, Ultra Lux, Toxic Socket, Luck of the Draw and RHI. I record a Christmas themed rock song (10 years and counting) for Green Monkey Records and all the money goes to MusiCares. The last few years I’ve been record alt-country rock songs and releasing them one at a time through Distro Kid. I focus manly on Spotify. My last 3 songs I worked with Producer/Engineer Gavin Paddock and hope to do more with him in the near future.

Kristian Montgomery and the Winterkill band

‘I’ll Find My Way Home’

[alt americana/rock]

Press Notes:

Kristian is a poor, church raised man who has lived every second of the songs he writes. You will hear his appreciation of the blue collar life. The songs come from a darker place as his life hasn’t been easy. You can feel him through his music.
