House Above The Sun

‘Trains’

[americana/90s rock]

Press Notes:

Between the golden tones of the lap steel, shimmering hammond organ and wistful trumpet melodies over an acoustic guitar, House Above The Sun (HATS) have manufactured a colourful yet melancholic new body of work, deeply rooted in folk rock with highly personal lyricism. Their brand new EP ‘Time I Got Goin” was released on 20.02.2020 and is available for streaming and download on Bandcamp, Spotify and iTunes.

Hailing from London, England, HATS are fronted by singer/songwriter/guitarist Jim Moreton and wife Ariel Moreton on harmony vocals and percussion. Supporting them are Davide Mongirulli on drums, Jack Neale on Bass and David Atkinson on lap steel and slide guitar.

Letchi

‘Insane’

[folk/singer-songwriter]

Press Notes:

Montreal, Quebec: Letchi has been hard at work the last three years creating and sharing his musical projects within North America. Under the pseudonym, Canadian singer-songwriter Nick Trode has promoted and expanded his artistic approach with charismatic performances, rhythmic instrumentals and authentic vocals.

It’s Catchin’ Up, his 2018 debut album, nods to earlier influencers of folk and Americana. Memorably, he’s played originals alongside The Tragically Hip’s guitarist, Rob Baker, and lent his talents on guitar to Toronto-based artist, Avery Florence, for shows at Canadian Music Week (CMW) and the annual Santa Teresa festival.

Born out of the desire to shake loose an older sound, his new project, a 5-song EP entitled The Static, aims to be his most ambitious work to date. With larger arrangements drawn from the musical talents of Lucio Jara, Alexy Guerer, Geoff Macfarlane, and Dylan Keating, the world of Letchi is growing. Encompassed in themes of movement and tales on the inevitability of a changing environment, The Static marks a step into a strange new world with an awakened curiosity and hunger to grow.

His recent endeavour includes recording and collaborating with local, up-and-coming duo Hansom Ēli for a track on their soon-to-be released EP. With new music on the horizon and a plan to continue live touring across Canada, Letchi is ready to let loose.

Jeremy loves to interact with his audience. He captivates the crowd with his genuine personality, unique humor, and heart-felt love of his occupation. Jeremy draws from his personal experiences to create songs that are keenly perceptive and meaningful.

Dons Skiffle

‘Happy Chappy’

[indie folk]

Press Notes:

British singer-songwriter and producer from Lincoln, England. The Lo-Fi bedroom sounds marry together societal topics with ambient, acoustic, and alternative instrumental pieces.
In 2013 while at college he formed a collective of musicians which a year later would be the foundation behind writing and recording the 1967 EP. During this time, he would write alongside good friends Chloe & Tom of Mangö.
In 2015 he moved to Manchester, meeting and living with Fern Williams. Her artwork would later be the cover art for the Last Session of Havi Depree EP. In 2016 whilst enjoying the fruity leisure of university, he released the Mannequin Space EP alongside playing drums for alternative rock band Suede Horse. He also collaborated with artists such as Robyn Florence, Maddy Storm & Faye Costello who came to form the opening track of the 2017 EP L.U.V. These university years also found him playing drums, guitar & later synth for his good friend Abbie Ozard until departing the band at the end of 2018.
In August that year, he began writing the 3 track EP Rien de spécial whilst in France. In early 2019 two albums emerged from a melancholy mind in the form of Edelweiss & Supermac Odyssey. Both albums were a production experiment, as they were recorded, mixed, and mastered on a mobile phone.
2020 saw the release of a more stripped back album Good Joke, Bad Punch Line. A follow up single titled Happy Chappy released in June of the same year.

Eli Gauden

‘Call My Name’

[indie folk]

Press Notes:

Rising from the Norwegian singer/songwriting-tradition; A girl and a guitar, a story and a voice, and what has come to be a unique mix of American roots and indie ballade. During three years in Boston, roots music slowly grew upon Eli and has followed her back to Norway. Today her music varies from raw Delta-blues covers to heartbreaking Americana ballads. By combining the honesty and complexity of her own stories with the simplicity of the roots, she expressed the darkest emotions with an angle-like touch and pulls the listener in.

Sail West

‘Something Special’

[folk/acoustic]

Press Notes:

Nathaniel and Heather Johnson have both been writing songs since childhood. Their shared love of music brought them together and they founded Sail West in 2015 with the help of producer/songwriter Jeremy Oliveria. They have performed with artists such as Bryson Foster, Combe, and Grammy-nominated songwriter Ryan Stevenson. Shortly after releasing their first single “Lead Me” in 2016, they stepped away to raise their family and to become more invested in their community. With a new perspective on life and music, they recently produced their EP “Those Days Were Numbered.”

Ethan Gold

‘Our Love Is Beautiful’

[indie folk/indie pop]

Press Notes:

Ethan is currently finalizing the double-album Earth City, a record about urban alienation and love, as well as about the destruction of the planet. (Scheduled for release in mid 2020.) He is starting to release singles in the autumn of 2019, beginning with the environmental anthem “Never Met a World Like You.”

His third full album in 2018 was his soundtrack of original songs and score to the indie film, The Song of Sway Lake, featuring John Grant and the Staves singing Ethan’s songs.

While working on this film score in New York, Ethan fell in a freak accident. Temporarily losing the ability to speak and to do complex tasks, during his convalescence he clarified his vision further. While playing with San Francisco literary rock weirdos The Size Queens, he found himself returning to early influences, being re-inspired by the futuristic sounds that were his refuge in the post-post-hippie milieu of his childhood, with skinheads roaming the confused streets of San Francisco before the tech boom. Last year Ethan released his collection of live covers of New Order, Bauhaus, Of Montreal, Devo, The Knife, and other influences, as Live Undead Bedroom Closet Covers (“Unhinged but weirdly compelling” – Uncut; “Often brilliant cover versions” – Shindig!; “Rather fantastic” – The Crack). In the summer of 2018 he followed this with the naive-electronic album Expanses (Teenage Synthstrumentals) (“Wildly diverting” – Electronic Sound; “Primitive analogue instruments to their sound-warping limits” – Uncut; “Records like these are my reason for getting into independent music in the first place” – Skope Mag; “My nominee for record of the year” – Vents Magazine.)

Gold first stepped into public consciousness when he produced and arranged Elvis Perkins’ blog-hyped debut Ash Wednesday. After moonlighting as bass player in his brother Ari’s celebrity-driven folk party band the Honey Brothers, and scoring his twin’s debut, the epic comedy Adventures of Power, Ethan began honing his intensely personal style while living in a dilapidated flat in Los Angeles, eventually releasing his debut art-rock album Songs From A Toxic Apartment to underground acclaim (Pitchfork, etc). He then began rolling out a series of videos from the album showcasing his visceral approach, which led to side work as a video director.

Gold was raised in San Francisco, during the hangover that followed free love. His father is Beat-adjunct writer Herbert Gold, and his mother Melissa was killed in a helicopter crash with legendary rock promoter Bill Graham. For Ethan, the escape was always into his music.

My Crooked Teeth

‘Something Decent’

[americana]

Press Notes:

My Crooked Teeth is the work of songwriter Jack Olchawski, often performed solo, or with the aid of his close friends and staples of the Oxford music circuit. Originally an outlet for the songs deemed too quiet for his band Toliesel, My Crooked Teeth has since grown into its own fully fledged project.

Since the release of ‘Watch The Darkness Stumble Home’ in 2014, My Crooked Teeth has explored songwriting in its purest form and quietly allowed new influences to affect each song as its recorded.

A string of singles has followed in the years since, alongside a live EP, and each has received praise from BBC Introducing, Nightshift Magazine and the wider music blogosphere. He has shared a stage with artists such as Evan Dando (of The Lemonheads), Lanterns on the Lake, Message To Bears, Lucy Spraggan, Judy Blank, Ciaran Lavery, Angaleena Presley (of Pistol Annies), Cattle & Cane, Richard Walters and My Darling Clementine.

Other festival appearances include Boomtown, Cornbury, Truck Festival, Wood Festival, Halfway To 75, Are You Listening?, Oxjam, a headline set at Oxford’s Riverside Festival; and Tartu Indiefest (in Estonia).
