Northampton legends Sebadoh are back in the game again with ‘Act Surprised‘ – an album that you’re supposed to listen to in a state of faux shock obviously. It’s been six years since their last release with 2013’s ‘Defend Yourself‘ which was the lovechild of a previous hiatus (fourteen years!). The LP was written and recorded after Lou Barlow moved back to Northampton, Massachusetts and got back in touch with fellow members Jason Loewenstein and Bob D’Amico. The first single off the record is entitled ‘celebrate the void‘ and via press release Barlow described it’s general zeitgeist: “The first line of this song: ‘I get the feeling you don’t feel me’ is pretty good. It could be a line in an Ariana Grande song, I like it. I followed it from there through some general complaints about a composite character in my life, someone I could never crack. Sometimes the walls are too high. If you think about it, the resistance was always there, even in the very beginning. What to do? Pick endlessly at the seams? Replay moments in my head looking for a way to explain it all? No, stop, there is no one answer and that’s OK…Celebrate the void.”

If that description caught your fancy you can listen to it below, along with checking out the cover art and tracklisting for ‘Act Surprised‘ which can be found May 24th via Dangerbird Records, and giving their tour dates a good look-over.
