French rockers, Phoenix, have announced their sixth studio album, entitled ‘Ti Amo’. The follow-up to 2013’s ‘Bankrupt!’ began production near the end of 2014 in “an old opera house near the Pompidou Center, in the heart of Paris that has been refashioned into a tech incubator, museum and concert hall” where they installed recording gear and synthesizers. The album was recorded in the midst of a tempestuous time in France, with the band being holed into the studio on the night of the attacks at the Bataclan concert venue after Paris was shutdown by police. “At some point when we were in the studio, there was a slight sense of guilt. But we were comforted by the idea that the four of us working wasn’t escapism or denial. When that became clear, the guilt disappeared,” lead singer Thomas Mars stated in a recent New York Times article. Despite the darkness surrounding the makings of the LP, guitarist Laurent Brancowitz has promised a “summer and Italian discos” feel. The band released a teaser video along with an announcement of a world tour, recently; the teaser showcased a short tidbit of new music. ‘Ti Amo’ is due out June 9th via Glassnote. You can catch Phoenix headlining New York’s Governors Ball on the 3rd of June, and find the rest of their tour dates down below along with the teaser vid.
