According to Pitchfork, Fitz of Depression‘s frontman & co-fouder Mikey Dees (vocals, guitar) has died. K records’ Calvin Johnson confirmed this, while at the time of writing these sad news, the cause of death has not yet been revealed. Fitz of Depresion were among the best 90’s punk outfits emerging from Olympia, Washington releasing 3 full-lengths, two of those on seminal label K records. Mikey was a charismatic persona, and ‘spat’ the words with enough energy & pathos to shake Olympia. Checking the band’s Facebook page, we discovered they are back in track playing gigs and next month they were about to play one with Dead Boys in Seattle. Dees also held the bass duties in the Seattle/Olympia hard rock and roll band The STUNTMEN.
