Neoclassical Suite is a column that will present 7 recent, distinctive tracks of the neoclassical-modern classical-contemporary -and beyond!- music field.

The Players

Rêves sonores

(neoclassical, contemporary music)

Formed by Nick Schofield and Stefan Christoff in Montreal, Rêves sonores provides a platform for inspired improvisation to interact with contemporary classical compositions, reinforced with experimental electronic production techniques. Their new album, Crépuscule, out now via Youngbloods, was recorded in New York City and Montreal, produced at the Banff Centre and mixed by Radwan Ghazi Moumneh at Hotel2Tango studio.

Eamonn Watt

(neoclassical, solo piano)

My name is Eamonn Watt, aka The Virtual Conductor and I’m the one and only composer for Virtually Conducted Productions! I’m 25 years old and I live in the Shetland Islands, the most northern isles of the UK. I have received a First Class Applied Music Degree from the University of the Highlands and Islands in August 2016 . Along with composition, I am a drummer and percussionist of many genres. I’ve performed in rock bands, heavy metal bands, funk bands and traditional Scottish music sessions.

I started making compositions during my last years in high school in 2010 and became fully realised in 2012 during my first year in college where I created my debut virtual classical album, Bonhoga. I successfully launched this album at the Bonhoga Gallery where it received high amounts of acclaim from music fans ranging from classical music lovers to heavy metal enthusiasts.

I use Bandcamp as my main hub for showing these musical works as it does take me a while to compile together a completed album of musical works and I like showing what completed songs I have so far. I post work-in-progresses of compositions and even some non-classical music as well. https://thevirtualconductor.bandcamp.com

Wide Eyed

(crossover classical, cinematic)

In 2020, everything changed for the artist, Wide Eyed.

Driven by the pandemic, the former rock band frontman who had reached the top ten in the UK Albums Chart and who is also a classically trained violinist and pianist, producer and hit songwriter could see clearly the path his new project needed to take.

It was ambitious, involving harmonies, melodies, and hooks that dig into your subconscious – genres colliding and short tracks which burst as quickly as a pop song but leaving a deeper impression.

Sharon Ruchman

(neoclassical)

American composer, pianist and violist, Sharon Ruchman began her musical journey when she took up piano at the age of eight, later receiving a Bachelor of Music from New England Conservatory of Music and a Master of Music from Yale School of Music. Her myriad accomplishments include the production of six CDs, including original classical music for solo instrumentation and chamber ensembles.

In 2019, Ruchman founded SONORO, a musical ensemble at the forefront of contemporary music performance. The group offers a playful and romantic mix of classical, jazz and Latin through a variety of flexible instrumentation to include piano, flute, saxophone, viola, cello, bass and percussion. Original work, composed by Ruchman and produced by Marc Wager Weisgal, is stretching boundaries of contemporary rhythms, creating a unique musical blend. There’s an element of fun and exploration in the music, showcasing the personalities and talents of the group’s highly skilled musicians.

Peter Mowry

(neoclassical, solo piano)

Portland, ME based composer, Peter Mowry, has been honing his craft as a musician for over 25 years. Self-taught in guitar, piano, and composition, Peter has blended his multi-instrumental passions to create music that is currently being heard around the world on radio and television (American Idol, Wanderlust, The Bachelorette, X-Factor, CBS Sports Spectacular and the 2016 Olympics, to name a few).

From performing with duo Westrin & Mowry for Billy Joel to touring with Lord Huron, Peter continues to use his experience as a performing artist to create unique works from his home studio.

Errol

(neoclassical)

Errol is a solo instrumental project of Scottish musician and composer, Pete Murch. The solo piano instrumentals are inspired by peaceful, calm places around Scotland.

Chrystal Für

(neoclassical, orchestral)

Chrystal Für was born three years ago in the high desert mountains of central Mexico during Vibberts’ year and a half sabbatical from film scoring and producing in his California recording studio, The Rabbit Hole Recording. It was a sabbatical that turned into a way of life. Inspired by the act of jumping ship from the rat race, slowing down, and focusing on the intricate, elemental beauty that surrounds us at every moment just waiting to be noticed, he began to create music that reflected this new way of being in the world.
