  1. Them Are Us Too – ‘Angelene

This is probably the last ever song from the duo Them Are Us Too, since Cash Askew passed away, along with other 35 souls so unexpectedly, in the Oakland Ghost Ship fire  last week. ‘Angelene‘ is taken from Scream Queens Magazine Issue #1 Compilation. Her is here to stay forever…

  1. Mega Bog – ‘London

Erin Birgy from Mega Bog dedicated this surreal opus to another Oakland Ghost Ship fire victim. These are her ‘words’:”It’s also dedicated to our dear bud, Nick Gomez-Hall, who helped document the “Happy Together” session, and died in the Ghostship fire a few days ago. This post has some of the photos he took of Mega Bog, and you can ask to see the rest, or find them in the HT insert with the record.

  1. Coastal Miner – ‘Common Ground

Coastal Miner I‘ is a true diamond in the rough. Coming from Polar Seas Recordings of Ontario, Coastal Miner guides us through a lonely journey through a misty evergreen forest. On ‘Common Ground‘ Coastal Miner has a base of warm humming drones contrasted by glitchy guitar notes. This impressive texture is filled in with field recordings which are clear enough to open the listeners’ minds to whole new vistas, in corners of the world not often traversed.

  1. Wax Idols – ‘Everybody Gets What They Want

It was on Wednesday when Californian Wax Idols announced and released their new single ‘Everybody Gets What They Want‘, out of their forthcoming ‘Happy Ending‘ LP out in spring 2017 via their own Etruscan Gold Records. Heather Fortune’s (ex-White Lung) Wax Idols made very good impact with ‘American Tragic‘ LP in October 2015, and now they let out their new wave/sad wave pop gem which actually is a sort of alternative Californian rock baby, a tune to dance to in the band’s style. So, this is my option for the week’s mixtape and as usual, you know…loud!!!

  1. Piano Magic – ‘Attention To Life’

With the next January released of the last album, aptly-titled ‘Closure’, will put an end, after the two glorious decades, to the bright creative and passionate musical journey of Piano Magic, led by the artistic genius of London-bred guitarist Glen Johnson.

Free from every commercial and genre concern, he has always followed his talent and inspiration that brought him to tirelessly explore new musical directions in a continual evolution from the more undefined experimental electronic sound of the early period to a more mature songwriting at the later stage, with influences ranging from The Velvet Underground through to Nick Drake to early 80’s synth-pop to The Smiths to Factory Records and 4AD to early 90’s bands like Disco Inferno and several collaborations with the likes of Low’s Alan Sparhawk, Dead Can Dance’s Brendan Perry, Cornershop, Tarwater, Vashti Bunyan and The CzarsJohn Grant.

Attention To Life’ is a melancholic string lost love ballad, an evocative deep wave of emotions highlighted by the anguished Peter Milton Walsh’s voice from the 80’s underestimated Aussie heroes The Apartments interspersed by a touching trumpet solo, “You know the words by heart/ but You never sing the song…”.

Piano Magic are going to place their final stone on their grave, but their musical ghosts will be deeply lingering around our troubled and vulnerable dark hearts.
