1. The Velvoids  – ‘Rake Your Mind’

Athens-based experimental-psych rock duo, The Velvoids, recently released their latest video for ‘Rake Your Mind‘ (taken from the 2020’s 12″ full length ‘MOTHER‘), that sets off in an indolent a la Velvet Underground way and gradually transforms to an addictive noisy, sonic adventure bringing in mind our favourite 90s guitar rock bands. The video is also a pure joy to watch & was filmed and directed by photographer, Elly Economides.

  1. Robert Connely Farr – ‘Ain’t Enough’

Vancouver-based, singer-songwriter Robert Connely Farr (grew up in the small southern town of Bolton, Mississippi) recently gifted us with his latest raw, acoustic, country-blues jewel  ‘Ain’t Enough‘; A track about missing home or normalcy due to the pandemic straight from the heart; An unpolished gem, with an intimate vocal performance,  that will speak to all of us and wash some of the pain away. Thank you Robert for this honest soul testimony! On endless repeat!

  1. Nous Alpha – ‘Fibonacci Failure’

American outfit Nous Alpha is a collaboration between multi- instrumentalist Christopher Bono (Ghost Against Ghost, Bardo (album), Nous) & noisemaker Gareth Jones (Spiritual Friendship, Grizzly Bear, Depeche Mode). ‘Fibonacci Failure‘, the first single (and video by Ben Heim) from forthcoming album ‘A Walk In The Woods‘ (out in May) is a wild, experimental, idm adventure, with impeccable sound design, and unanticipated, ‘turbulent, constantly-evolving rhythmic passages’.

The band’s statement about the track: “‘Fibonacci Failure’ was built off a rhythm we derived while jamming in the woods with a couple of branches on a large oak tree, which was one of our recorded samples. We began experimenting with a rhythm-based off the Fibonacci mathematical series; however after we had built up the arrangement in the studio from this raw woods groove, we realised we’d made a mistake in the counting of the rhythmic meter, and therefore the rhythm wasn’t a pure Fibonacci series. Thus the title.

  1. Howlin’ Circus – ‘Dresden’

Totonto-based alternative rock project of Jafar Sandouk, Howlin’ Circus recently unleashed the debut single from their forthcoming album, ‘Dresden‘, a powerful, melodious track with hypnotic vocals, and psychedelic rock elements, and great lyrics like the ones below:

I’m the sinner in this hole you made

Ain’t no single winner in this soft parade

This house is on fire with the ghosts of our lies

How long can you keep the wool over your eyes?

  1. Patient Lounge  – ‘BEGDA’

Patient Lounge hail from Brisbane, Australia, and their sound is a mighty mix of progressive rock and alternative rock with 90s grunge hints. Their latest 9-minute opus ‘BEGDA‘ finds the band to their more progressive rock roots, and lovers of wild guitar solos, titanic song structures, and powerful rock vocal performances should check this one out asap and play on repeat until their next baby. Unreal beast!
