  1. Institute – ‘Anxiety

The punkish band from Texas, Institute, have shared since March three new songs to give a preview from their upcoming album and build up our impatience, ‘Readjusting the Locks‘. The album will be officially out soon via Sacred Bones Records on May 17th. Merely days ago they shared the official video of the third single ‘Anxiety‘.
The band’s members have started moving from Texas to NewYork and the half of them have already moved to make their new steps there, in order to fullfil their dream to change the world, to make a utopia of punk idealism, to fill the world with humanity and to stand against of unequality of modern society.

  1. Neighbours Burning Neighbours – ‘Hesitate’ (Front live session)

If you feel ready to taste the volcanic energy from the exceptional post-punk/noise rock outfit from Rotterdam, Neighbours Burning Neighbours, and the live performance of ‘Hesitate‘ for the Dutch music magazine Front, then go on and press the play button below.

This spine-chilling live performance is a unique piece of raw art, a magnificent  “Abrasive Mineral” for every single fan of high energy music. Aram Scheeve, the drummer, is a among the best “rhythm machines” I have heard for years keeping the tension at maximum level with every single hit, but when the screaming Queen,  Daanie van den IJssel gets “mad” after the 2nd minute, the director Marèl Jap-Sam loses it and begins a crazy rollercoaster ride. Now what’s this? Are you still there? A sublime piece and an instant standout track of 2019. Catch them live if you can. But in the meantime….

This is The Ex‘s heritage at its best!

  1. The Shyp – ‘The Fix

What I love most about the latest single, ‘The Fix‘, by Canadian band The Shyp, is the intelligent mix of modern electric blues with the traditional Chicago blues (regarding the lyrics) and the indie spirit (just the spirit!, not the sound!). The tune’s melody is descriptive and memorable enough, and the vocal performance just grandiose. This is definitely a breath of fresh air in the current electric blues music, and we feel more than confident that these dudes deserve your attention. Just don’t expect an easy way out; This is a pure electric blues hell broken loose!

  1. LAPOMPE – ‘Ghost Note’

Last Day Deaf is open to any genre of music. No boundaries! The most important factor is to dig the tune. We may not write often about ethnic and especially about gypsy-folk acts like the very special one Denver’s LAPOMPE, but ‘Ghost Note‘ is an ideal occasion to do so. This gem is taken from the forthcoming album ‘Passages‘ available everywhere June 4th, and showcases the band’s pretty unique blend of “rustic gypsy jazz, hot club swing, and soulful blues“. On repeat!
