  1. Hypergiant – ‘No Way Out’

If you revel in post-apocalyptic heavy stuff, then this is something you definitely need to check out. In 2017, Australian Hypergiant released their debut album ‘Father Sky‘, including the track ‘No Way Out‘, a magnificent piece of stoner metal. About two years later, in March 2019, the video for ‘No Way Out‘ was published and it is more than just a video. It is an excellently-produced short film filled with post-apocalyptic goodness perfectly fitting to the disaster and the impending doom described in the lyrics.

  1. Moonglow – ‘Hurts Like Hell’

Moonglow‘s debut single ‘Hurts Like Hell‘ has it all! Starting from its title, proceeding to an impeccable indie rock attitude in the vein of early era The Strokes, but is this it? Nope. Then comes some of the best synth work I’ve heard in a while. At least for an indie rock track; Seductive synths come out of nowhere to dominate the indie rock vibes and it’s pure magic. NYC-based Jeff Citron is the man behind this more than promising project and judging bythis initial sample, have to state that the bar is raised and the expectations are high! Well done, heaps! Addiction….

This is what Citron has stated about the track: “The song is about the “game” we sometimes play when a relationship is in it’s death throes – the back and forth, the information inequality, and ultimate self-acceptance of being alone.

  1. Gnoomes – ‘Sword in the Stone

Sword in the Stone‘ is the first official preview of Gnoomes‘ new album ‘MU!‘. The word “MU” has its origins in Buddhism and means both “no” & “nothingness“. The forthcoming new work is stated for release on May 31st via Rocket Recordings. The Russian band once again creates its special sonic blend of krautrock and techno with elements of psych rock and shoegaze. They themselves describe their music as “stargaze”.
The band’s line up has changed a little bit in comparison with their previous recording, since they’ve added one more member (Masha) to enrich their unique audio blend.

  1. VNUS – ‘On Nobody’s Mind’

22 y.o. VNUS has gifted us with an excellent electronic track in the (golden) vein of Boards Of Canada. ‘On Nobody’s Mind‘ is an amalgam of synthwave, minimal electronica, downtempo and experimental and “comes from a place of intense loneliness that I was feeling because of a very complicated and ultimately doomed romantic relationship.” Thank you VNUS for this one and kudos to the ‘girl’ for this divine inspiration…

Many have already said, that great art often comes from a place of pain….
