  1. HOLYGRAM – ‘Signals’

Just two weeks have passed since the release of the sophomore album ‘Modern Cults (Oblivion, 2018) of HOLYGRAM from Cologne Germany.  From where we chose the song ‘Signals’ for this week’s mixtape. In their music we meet a sonic mix of post punk and darkwave along with krautrock and elements of shoegaze. The rich influences of the five members are obvious. And that’s why we get lost in their multilayered music that’s much alike with the sound of the 80’s. Even the melancholic lyrics give the sense of the dark romance…

Sometimes when I close my eyes I see you walk away/ And everytime the sun comes up the feeling in the same.”

  1. Royal Wood – ‘Photograph’

Canadian singer-songwriter, record producer and arranger Royal Wood has released one of 2018’s most heartfelt tracks. : ‘I wrote this song with the talented Jessica Mitchell about losing my father to Alzheimer’s and the significance the photographs of him have meant to my family‘.

Sometimes words are difficult to describe (and probably meaningless) such works of art. From the heart, soul, pure. So, this is it…

  1. The Rungs – ‘King Of Books’

Female fronted alt-pop project from Brooklyn NY, The Rungs prove that they can also create addictive, moody indie tracks (with less experimentation!) and still sound extremely cool! Well, ‘King Of Books’ is a track  that ‘captures that moment in a toxic relationship when the rose colored glasses are lifted‘. Luv this!

I wasn’t ready for the day

You swept me off my feet

And at our height I couldn’t see

You’re no good for me
