We sadly expected the worst news to arrive when iconic drummer Ginger Baker was rushed in hospital critically ill a few days ago, on September 25. His family shared the following words via Twitter a while ago: ‘We are very sad to say that Ginger has passed away peacefully in hospital this morning. Thank you to everyone for your kind words over the past weeks‘.
Peter Edward “Ginger” Baker co-founded Cream in 1966 whose impact was immense, although they were active only for 3 years, releasing 4 albums. Baker’s unique drumming abilities were a major driving force for the band’s sublime heavy blues rock/psychedelic, one of a kind, sound.
In 1993, Baker was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a Cream member. The legend recorded several solo albums after Cream disbanded, with his latest one being 2014’s ‘Why?‘.
The artist collaborated with numerous bands & artists, but one of my personal faves was the BBM project. Gary Moore, Jack Bruce & Ginger Baker released only one album in 1994 ‘Around The Next Dream‘, a blues rock underrated masterpiece:
At last, all three of them are jamming up there in heaven…..
