The bitter news were shared from Dais Records co-founder Ryan Martin a while ago:

Rest in peace Genesis. For Dais, you really were the start of it all. Friend, inspiration, and legend. Love you forever. The following is from Caresse and Genesse P-Orridge:

Dear friends, family and loving supporters,

It is with very heavy hearts that we announce thee passing of our beloved father, Genesis Breyer P-Orridge.

S/he had been battling leukemia for two and a half years and dropped he/r body early this morning, Saturday March 14th, 2020.

S/he will be laid to rest with h/er other half, Jaqueline “Lady Jaye” Breyer who left us in 2007, where they will be re-united.
Thank you for your love and support and for respecting our privacy as we are grieving.

Genesis Breyer P-Orridge (born Neil Andrew Megson), the co-founder of the pioneering industrial-noise bands Throbbing Gristle (alongside Chris Carter, Peter “Sleazy” Christopherson & Cosey Fanni Tutti in late 1975) and Psychic TV (with Peter “Sleazy” Christopherson in 1981) has passed away today, March 14, at the age of 70. Devastating news for an avant-garde icon, a controversial persona ahead of h/er time, and a brilliant mind but not of a sudden, since s/he’s been battling with chronic myelomonocytic leukemia since 2017.

I was initially “inducted” to h/er unparalleled universe, some 20 years back when I first heard Throbbing Gristle’s ‘Discipline‘ (later discovered this legendary live version:

While most refer to industrial, avant-garde, noise, experimental, almost nobody refers to the punk side of Throbbing Gristle and apparently Genesis P-Orridge’s stage performance. TG were identified by many as the founders of industrial music.

Psychic TV followed the break-up of TG, in 1981, a more eclectic, experimental, post-industrial band (operated as a collective-supergroup), that released their debut album ‘Force The Hand Of Chance‘ in 1982.

PTV remained active, releasing albums until 2016, and collaborated with a wide range of diverse artists such as Alternative TV‘s Alex Fergusson, David Tibet (Current 93), Monte Cazazza and John Balance (Coil).

Iconic English singer-songwriter, musician, poet, performance artist, and occultist. P-Orridge will eventually join h/er other half, Jaqueline “Lady Jaye” Breyer.

Rest in Peace our ‘Godstar‘!
