MXMS – ‘death row (post pardon)’

About MXMS

“Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process (you) do not become a monster.  And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you.” -Friedrich Nietzsche

War torn from past and present battles of mental illness and addiction, the monsters are very real and the abyss is a current state of reality for MXMS, short for “Me and My Shadow.” Comprised of singer Ariel Levitan and multi-instrumentalist Jeremy Dawson,  the self-produced duo from New York City and small town Oklahoma creates their own musical genre “Funeral Pop” fusing classic melodic songwriting with dark unfiltered chaos driven by a thousand forms of fear.

Previous singles from Me and My Shadow focused on the minimalism of a raw piano and voice; drawing from Jeremy’s classical piano background complimenting Ariel’s heart piercing tenor vocals.  The new recordings reflect their sonic progression to an expansive pallet of dark instrumentation, pulsing analog synthesizers and a crushing rhythm section layered around Ariel’s haunting delivery.   Focusing on movements of emotional trauma and taboo metaphoric expression, the brutal honesty of MXMS leaves an open invitation for listeners’ own stories rise to the surface.

Mad Mad Mad – ‘Always’

About Mad Mad Mad

Mad Mad Mad is a Los Angeles based band led by producer John Moran. Moran started writing and recording music at an early age, singing songs into a plastic tape recorder in his bedroom when his parents were sleeping. He tries to maintain that same level of childlike excitement today by working with the best live and session musicians in the Los Angeles area. “Every musician you work with has some special sauce they can bring to a song, and it’s great hearing different personalities working together to make a song sound great.” Prior to moving to LA, Moran had some success with his New York band Jack & Honey, sharing a bill with Eric Clapton and Tedeschi Trucks Band, and opening for The Roots at a basement bar in the East Village. Musicians that play on Mad Mad Mad tracks are well respected in the music community, jumping in on sessions for songs in between touring at major festivals, engineering for Emmy award winning shows, and playing with Grammy winning artists. The band holds their production value to an exceptionally high standard, and the best way to do that is to bring in the best musicians to play great performances.

CAL – ‘Roll the Credits’

About CAL

The former front man of the band Timeflies, CAL moved to Los Angeles, CA in 2015 and engulfed himself in the artist/producer/songwriter scene. CAL’s been working in LA producing and writing tracks for a bunch of Tik Tok stars like Griffin Johnson, Benson Boone (1.6M), Anson Seabra + more. He’s really established himself as the “go-to” producer in that scene.
