Åyusp – ‘Trans – Edale Express’

About Åyusp

Åyusp (pronounced “Oy-usp”) is an experimental electronica outfit consisting of two Sheffield based musicians, Graham McElearney (who has previously guested on harp for bands such as Regal Worm, Amorphous Androgynous, In The Nursery, Animat and Reverend & The Makers) and Paul Mills (formally a member of PsychoAcoustic SoundClash and The Weird & The Wonderful). The band was formed in 2016 out of a shared affection for German electronic music of the Seventies. Fusing these influences with an equal passion for ambient, classical, industrial and contemporary dance music, Åyusp blend styles creating their own unique sound.

In addition to working on their self-released debut album, eponymously titled “Åyusp” (released on October 18th 2019, in digital download and limited edition cd formats), they have also been doing a bit of audio archaeology along the way, recreating an excerpt from Tangerine Dream’s 1975 York Minster gig, which up to now has only existed in low quality bootleg form. This piece was unveiled on BBC Radio 6 Music recently when Stuart Maconie played it on his “Freak Zone” show and was met with an amazing response, gaining attention from around the world.

Scarypoolparty – ‘DIAMONDS’

About Scarypoolparty

Virtuosic and versatile singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and budding producer, Alejandro Aranda, aka Scarypoolparty, pulls inspiration from a myriad of musical genres including classical, rock, punk, electronic, and indie-folk, creating a lush alternative pop sound that cannot be easily categorized. Born in Baldwin Park and raised in Pomona, Aranda began playing the piano at age nine, but realized it was his passion after working a slew of labor-intensive jobs; music was what he needed to do. Aranda’s style is influenced by a diverse group of artists including: Chopin, Brahms, Nine-Inch Nails, Bjork, David Bowie, Skinny Puppy, Dead Can Dance, and The Tallest Man on Earth. His wide array of musical influence is apparent in his striking, multifaceted sound and expertise in varying styles. As an artist who cannot be attached to a genre, Aranda’s music ranges from guitar or piano-centric pieces which convey the more personal, acoustic aspect of his artistry, to his industrialized music, which borrows from electronic-inspired beats and incorporates a variety of synthesized textures. Together both of his styles, in combination with his brilliant attention to lyricism and melody, result in his familiar yet progressive sound. Aranda strives to connect with his listeners through the honesty and truth he seeks to convey in his music. “Music means everything to me … I play to keep going, to express myself. Music is emotional and everyone perceives it differently, I use my music as a way of connecting to others through the outpouring of our souls”.

The musical alter ego of Puerto Rico-born and Santa Monica-based singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Roberto Rodriguez echoes beyond eras on the 2019 full-length debut, Coastal Clouds [MAKE Records].
