F Markiser – ‘Is Your Life Much Better Than Mine?’

About F Markiser

With a background of touring through Norway in a shitty van smelling his bandmates intestines, Jørgen Frydstad started F Markiser in an attempt to make a band consisting of only himself. He built a studio in his apartment and started writing songs and recording them. With raw self-played, no fancy editing productions, F Markiser will write himself into music history as the guy who made it okey to sing out of pitch again.

Bess Atwell – ‘All You Can Do’

About Bess Atwell

Following on from rapturous response to her recently unveiled singles, the BBC 6Music playlisted ‘Co-op’ and ‘Time Comes In Roses’, emerging singer and songwriter Bess Atwell has now returned to announce the details behind her highly-anticipated new album ‘Already Always’, her first through Lucy Rose’s label Real Kind Records, and share the beautifully arresting new release ‘All You Can Do’.

Her new collection looks to bring together the songs and aesthetics she has been channelling for some time. While on the surface some would see it as a break-up record, the album itself is more about the deeper relationships that many of us experience throughout our lives, and how brittle and disconnected they can become over time.

Abra Taylor – ‘Paris Is Burning’

About Abra Taylor

23 year old Toronto native Abra Taylor operates under her grandmother’s pen name. Originally a Harlequin Superromance novelist, the name Abra Taylor has transcended and transformed generationally into the moniker of a modern moody songstress. Abra has taken the idea of ‘superromance’ and expanded upon it with the grace of an old-Hollywood starlet and the empowered self-awareness of a femme fatale. Like a bite from a lover, Taylor sings with a stinging kiss of raw emotion, delving deep into themes of lust, longing, pain and addiction, with startling sensuality and robust vulnerability.

ilonalowe – ‘Someday’

About ilonalowe

ilonalowe is an independent alt-folk artist born and based in South West London. Nowadays she may take inspiration from Gillian Welch, Laura Marling, Cherry Ghost and Jackson Browne, but it was Alice Glass’ chaotic performance at Reading Festival some years ago that inspired Marnie Burt to reach for her first recording setup at the age of sixteen. Her very first release was met with acclaim from BBC Introducing, who assured listeners that this songwriter would be one to watch – sure as eggs, ilonalowe delivers in 2021 with singles “Once Again” and “Someday”.

ilonalowe’s unique storytelling style has been described as accomplished, timeless and evocative, her demos all written between a Little Martin and a cheap hand-me-down guitar. The UK lockdowns of 2020-21 provided the perfect opportunity for Marnie to find her sea legs with a sound that appeals to alternative folk fans everywhere, truly fulfilling her place in the world of independent artistry with her DIY approach to creating artwork, music videos and hand-printed linocut merchandise.
