Message To Bears – ‘All We Said’

About Message To Bears

‘Constants’ is the 5th LP from Jerome Alexander under his Message To Bears moniker.

After living in London for the past 5 years where he released 2 albums, countless remixes, collaborated with and produced for other artists, Jerome returns to live in his hometown of Bristol, where he completes his new LP from within his home studio, located on the edge of local woodland. It would be these daily walks amongst small streams and ever-changing trees that would influence and help form this latest collection of songs. These small glimpses of meditations are a means of processing all the anxieties that would otherwise be neglected without an outlet for creativity. Constants is an attempt to hold onto something real and grounding amongst the seemingly fleeting and fragile experiences of life.

L.A. Rochelle – ‘No More (Encore)’

About L.A. Rochelle

London based, French Artist L.A. Rochelle debuts ‘No More (Encore)’, a moving single dedicated to the heart-breaking loss of someone who is gone but, whose memory is forever haunting.

Whilst studying at the French Conservatoire, unbeknownst to his professors, L.A. Rochelle would hammer nails into their grand pianos to create broken and mixed-up orchestral R&B music and cinematic soundscapes. This early fascination with the dramatic still resonates throughout his work today. Since moving to London in 2012, his projects present his own extended-range of vocals

layered over a bed of sub-heavy urban beats and incorporates home-made instruments, prepared pianos and harpsichords, orchestral string ensembles, baritone horns sextets, typewriter sections, washing mashing laments and other sound ambiances.

His debut single is pop music at it’s finest; a song full of haunting and heartbreak, set to melodic pop riffs and a captivating chorus that will linger in your mind. However, it was a very dark beginning for L.A. Rochelle. His pseudonym was born from tragedy as he desperately tried to escape his flat in Paris where his best friend took the life of his other best friend; the two of whom had been in a secret gay relationship. Dealing with the trauma and grief, he immersed himself in his music as he bought time and saved to travel to L.A. from La Rochelle. Through his music he has redefined his perspective of love, friendship and loss.

L.A. Rochelle has produced tracks for Tricky’s forthcoming album, recorded vocals with synth pop duo Scratch Massive and composed for the soundtrack of a Lars Von Trier feature amongst other numerous fashion and artistic events.

His new single ‘No More (Encore)’ is a beautifully tragic pop ballad which signals the arrival of one of music’s most exciting new artists.

Nap LaJoy – ‘Hat City Rollers’

About Nap LaJoy

Nap LaJoy is songwriter/guitarist Devin O’Keeffe and multi-instrumentalist/producer Michael Simonelli. The group released its first record HOST in August of 2017 to positive reviews. HOST was largely a guitar driven record, solidly capturing the bands sound up the that point. Following the relocation of long time drummer Dave Newman and bassist Kevin Hunter, O’Keeffe and Simonelli began work on the band’s second full length album. While HOST was largely informed by the live performances of the quartet up to that point, KALEIDO was born in the studio. Recorded over the course of two years (2017-2019), the sophomore effort further develops and explores the bands distinct psychedelic sensibilities. The group is currently preparing for a string of live shows as well as assembling material for a third offering.

Devon Welsh – ‘War’

About Devon Welsh

With his duo Majical Cloudz, Welsh found a huge audience for that vision: he released two critically-acclaimed LPs with Matador Records, and went from DIY house-show tours to playing arenas with Lorde. Moreover, Welsh created life-affirming moments: on-stage, he looked people in the eye—blurring the line between music and performance art—and could bewilder listeners or make them cry. But after disbanding Majical Cloudz in 2016, Welsh retreated to take stock of his purpose as an artist. He shifted his relationship with music. His solo album, Dream Songs, arrived in 2018, rescaling the pulsing heart of his work with arresting orchestral arrangements.

Written about the frustrations and resentments of a lost friendship, there is bitterness in “War,” but also the desire to regain what was lost.

That self-contained principle extends to how Welsh is continuing to release music now: removed from the label system, towards an autonomous path, stemming from his own approach to his work. “Making music is a personal thing for me,” Welsh says. “Ideally it is a reflection of something intimate.”

Ryvage – ‘Program’

About Ryvage

Ryvage means ‘shore’, and has been the moniker for the musical explorations of electronic musician and producer Samuel Reinard since 2017. Driven by his love of contrasts and produced in isolation, Reinard’s synth-driven electro-pop and electronica, and its visual incarnations, are a reflection of his personal obsessions, spanning 80s sci-fi movie soundtracks, industrial electronica, electro-pop in the vein of early The Knife, immersive installation art and echoes of French literature.

The name ryvage (pronounce revaj) says it all, according to Reinard: “My homebase Luxembourg is landlocked. It can be claustrophobic to live in such a small country. To me, making music is like driving to the sea, sitting at the shore and contemplating the horizon. It is a safe and beautiful place where you can be in the moment and let your imagination go wild. I also like the idea of being on the threshold of two worlds or elements. The Pythagorean y, replacing the i in ryvage, reflects this inherent duality of our existence. Ryvage oscillates around contrasts, change and escapism”.

Ryvage has performed live at festivals like Food for Your Senses (LU), Siren’s Call (LU), les Aralunaires (BE) and Zikametz (F) and opened for artists such as Liars (US), Blanck Mass (UK) and Throwing Snow (UK). In January 2018 he released a rework of the track Bubbles by Drops and Points, the electronic project initiated by multi- award-winning composer and jazz vibraphonist Pascal Schumacher (LU), as part of the Drops & Points Reworks EP featuring remixes by artists such as Stimming and Paul Frick. The same year he composed the music for the official trailer of the Luxembourg City Film Festival. His reworks of Ice in my eyes’ Heart and Soul and acclaimed dreampop producer Sun Glitters’ Another day, Another time are due for Autumn 2018.
