Two Weeks In Nashville – ‘All About Now’

About Two Weeks In Nashville

Brought together through a love of the sounds, energy and extravagance of history’s greatest rock bands, Billy, bassist Jonny Faires, guitarist Marc De Luca drummer Ian Wilson travelled to Nashville to hone their sound and record their first batch of releases. Having fallen in love with Music City, they’ve been back twice since then, but as Billy jokes, “Only for two weeks at a time”. With an enviable work rate and a dynamic live presence that’s seen them play up and down the country, selling out Camden Assembly and O2 Academy2 Islington, recording at the legendary Abbey Road Studios and garnering support from the likes of BBC Introducing, 2020 will see the four piece bring their fresh and enigmatic sound to wider and wider audiences.

mxu – ‘Real Life’ (feat. Nu Lighter & Britney Jayy)

About mxu

Toronto/LA-based producer mxu creates hard-hitting yet soulful soundscapes which combine timeless Southern bounce with an unshakeable contemporary Toronto sound.

Throughout the six tracks of his forthcoming Northern Reflektions EP, mxu explores the synergy between two distinct regions’ musical lineages. Voices from Memphis and Houston’s 1990’s hip-hop legacy are summoned forth over beats that bump with the best of the Dirty South, submerged in an icy sensual darkness indicative of the unique production approach that has put Canada on the rap map. With forays into serrated sub-bass, keening sirens and spectral piano, the music transcends mere homage to reveal a powerfully original vision of hip-hop’s past and future. Exuding a dreamlike ambience amidst banging beats from a producer at the top of his game, Northern Reflektions is a testament to mxu’s command of regional flair in service of an expansive global sound – as well as a tease for even more music soon to come, and the next chapter of mxu’s musical journey.

He’s not just your standard indie voice.

Ian released his debut EP Icarus in 2016 and has since become a fixture in the New York alternative pop scene, including packed shows at Rockwood Music Hall, The Bitter End, Goldsound’s, and Lovecraft Bar. His songs and videos have been featured on Howl & Echoes, Wolf In a Suit, Clout, Indietronica, Milk Crater, Cougar Microbes, and Spotify’s Fresh Finds.
