About The Do Not’s

The Do Not’s is a post punk, indie rock band creating their own sonic landscapes and little songs… Noisy yet gentle, The Do Not’s walk the fine line between blurry and massive postpunk – shoegaze sounds and a black & white touch of darkwave and electro, constantly composing and creating new tracks fulfilling an inner need.

Spectator – ‘Weight’

About Spectator

“Weight”, the new single from dream pop duo Spectator, sweeps a whirlwind of emotions through a vast, open heart holding on to something that is about to change. Layers of upbeat guitar symbolize the free, unbolted feeling of living in the moment as the moment itself begins to fade away. Bright, glossy melodies pulse like a rush of blood, adrenaline in full gear. “Weight” savors the bliss of the moment before having to let go, and is off their recently released album, Charlie, Baby.

Kitzl – ’40 moons’

About Kitzl

Producer and composer, Kitzl plays with organically derived sounds in an electronic, popdriven way. Her work builds upon short, hooky loops to formulate dramatic songs and unearthly soundscapes. Kitzl samples everyday sounds like gates, pottery, and branches to give strange, dirty textures to her work, and populates it with the voices of coyotes, frogs, crickets and birds alongside layers of her own vocals. While each piece is emotionally rooted in humanoid experiences, instrumentally and lyrically they might bring up images of anthropomorphized planets and objects, as well as imaginary races of probably nonexistent lifeforms. There is subtle conflict in Kitzl’s work and aesthetic. It’s a disquieted feud between a playful, child-like wonder, and a darker, more displeased bitterness at something. Maybe this is a natural dynamic for an artist trying to find their voice in a crowded space, or maybe she just spends too much time in her woman cave anticipating the jellyfish apocalypse and planning a bird sanctuary for sad birds. Armadilla is Kitzl’s first release to date, and precedes her upcoming 2019 album.

Milana – ‘Dreamers’

About Milana

Milana is a multi-award winning pianist, composer and singer-songwriter, who has been a performing and recording artist since her childhood. A strong lyricist and composer in her own right, Milana’s style is reminiscent of Tori Amos, Sarah McLachlan, Michael Nyman, Keith Jarret and Chick Corea. Milana enjoys playing by ear, improvising and using whatever inspires her to create her own style of playing. She is known as an adept improviser, catching melodies on the fly and expanding them into her own creations.

Milana was born in Ukraine, lived in Israel for many years and moved to Canada in 2008. Having lived in different countries has enriched her musical experiences and storytelling. Her songs touch on issues of belonging, identity, the inner child, war and peace, and life and death. Soulful singing and complex piano melodies are Milana’s signature, but she embraces a variety of styles – everything from folk, blues, opera and Middle Eastern, to her soft spots for rock and jazz.

Milana has released nine albums and published two books with original scores for solo piano. Since 2012, in addition to performing live and releasing original albums, she has also taken piano and vocal performance in a commercial direction by doing session recordings, arranging, composing for films and online music libraries in her own recording studio located in Ottawa’s suburb. Milana provides full-service soundtrack and song production, as well as recording acoustic grand piano.

The Color Society – ‘Sick’

About The Color Society

The Color Society is a unique blend of influence and experimentation. Inspired by alternative, indie pop, psychedelia, and rock, young musicians Daniel Shrader, Shane Teague, Isaiah Sanchez, Nathan Shrader, and Tess Schoonhoven sought to craft a modern sound without sacrificing the strong melodies of classic artists of the past. The resulting sound is pop music at its core, with more “color.”
