According to Billboard, Florian Schneider (born Florian Schneider-Esleben in 1947), co-founder of the Godfathers of electronic music, Kraftwerk has died at the age of 73.

Formerly known as Organisation, the band formed in 1970 , and they were the first ones to boil the multimedia element at their live shows, but also use their own, unique, custom-made instruments and synthesizers.

Schneider’s basic ‘instrument was the flute, which he would treat using electronic effects, including tape echo, ring modulation, use of pitch-to-voltage converter, fuzz and wah-wah, allowing him to use his flute as a bass instrument‘.

David Bowie also recognized Florian’s influence on his own art, since on his 1977 album ‘Heroes‘, titled his mostly instrumental track ‘V-2 Schneider‘ after the artist

Schneider left Kraftwerk in 2008, after almost 4 decades of unique creativity.
