Tonight we feel more than excited to exclusively premiere tha latest video by Jacksonport, ‘Patience‘, on Last Day Deaf. Starting with the video, the camera follows our hero walking down an empty hotel corridor (no other people anywhere seen). It’s a long, lonely walk, while we listen to the spine-chilling chorus’ lyrics: ‘Patience, you’re a beautiful man, walking so slowly, a gun in each hand‘. Won’t spoil any more of the ‘fun’…
Singer & songwriter John Fatum is the core of Jacksonport, and in his 5th song for this project, he unfolds his natural talent, of combining his blackest lyrics with his trippy alt-americana sound. More than significant contributions in this track, are those of Adam Brisbin (Sam Evian, Buck Meek, Cass McCombs) who played the almost ‘haunting’ electric guitar and pedal steel, and of Grammy winner Phil Joly (Lana Del Rey, Daft Punk, The Strokes, Patti Smith). who undertook the mixing and additional production.
Don’t expect highs & lows in this little treasure; The sound/progression is deliberately linear -in the vein of great Mark Kozelek– & in accordance with this era: This is a song for all wandering souls who have been affected by the pandemic. A hymn for the lost “pro-COVID” freedom. Vital!
Press notes:
“Patience” is the 5th song from Jacksonport. Echoing a lifelong love for cowboy films, the chorus calls “Patience, you’re a beautiful man, walking so slowly, a gun in each hand”. The electric guitar and pedal steel are played by Adam Brisbin (Sam Evian, Buck Meek, Cass McCombs) with mixing and additional production by GRAMMY winner Phil Joly (Lana Del Rey, Daft Punk, The Strokes, Patti Smith). The music video and album art connect the song to pandemic aesthetics.

The recordings include synth playing by Julian Pollack (J3P0, The Lesson, Marcus Miller) electric guitar by Adam Brisbin (Buck Meek, Sam Evian, Cass McCombs) and mixing by Grammy Award Winner Phil Joly (Electric Lady Studios, Lana Del Ray, Daft Punk, The Strokes, Patti Smith) Jacksonport is releasing a new song every month in 2020.
