Mr. Benjamin John Power, one half of Bristol’s electronic duo Fuck Buttons and a life long fan of Mogwai, has announced the release of his fourth studio album under the solo project moniker Blanck Mass. ‘Animated Violence Mild‘ will be released via Sacred Bones Records and consist of eight tracks, including the first single off the record: ‘House vs. House‘. The track is practically eight minutes long featuring a screaming intro and heavily processed vocals who’s incessant beat will be latched in your mind as only the best earworms can. Fans and critics alike have compared the single to ‘Chvrches on acid”, “Crystal Castles meets SOPHIE”, and has been called “a chaotic listen.” When describing the LP Power stated, “I believe that many of us have willfully allowed our survival instinct to become engulfed by the snake we birthed. Animated—brought to life by humankind. Violent—insurmountable and wild beyond our control. Mild—delicious.

The album, according to the same statement, is inspired by grief, both personal and global, “for what we as a species have lost and handed over to our blood-sucking counterpart, consumerism, only to be ravaged by it.” Seeing as those you must hypocritically consume in order to listen to this artistic output on consumerism, you can find ‘Animated Violence Mild‘ at a record store near you (or online I suppose, but c’mon people, polka-dotted aliens, and furry creatures, we need to support our local indie record shops!) on the 16th of August. Check out ‘House vs. House‘ below.
