abisha-all-that-00

From Devon by way of South London, ABISHA is the unmistakably British alt-R&B singer-songwriter channelling introspection via moody melodies and a distinctive vocal.

The first taste of ABISHA’s music comes in the form of coolly-restrained alternative R&B slow-burner ‘All That‘. Prickling between fragility and assertiveness, her distinct vocal, turned up high in the mix, feels liminal, ambiguous, on the cusp of something.

After a chance meeting at a South East London bar with legendary songwriter and producer Mike Chapman, ABISHA’s vulnerable yet evocative songwriting was spurred into action. Chapman is one of the most successful songwriters and producers globally, defining the British pop music scene during the 70s. Responsible for the likes of Blondie‘s iconic ‘Parallel Lines’ album, he’s also recently worked with FKA Twigs and Laura Doggett, among others.

Having spent the last few years honing her alt-R&B sound with Chapman, ABISHA’s ready to push the boundaries of what the genre is capable of. Some artists reveal themselves in an instant. Others take the long way round, each release peeling back the layers of self slowly. For 22-year-old ABISHA, the case is very much the latter.
