What inspired you to first start making music? And how did you come to be in your current incarnation? Or if you prefer, a brief bio about you.
We had been always making music one way or another. Marilena (the lead singer, keyboardist and composer) had another popular band in Athens, called Berlin Brides and was (and still is) writing music for films. Gina (our guitarist) is also a member of a grunge band called Katrin the Thrill. Maria (who is mainly a film producer and writer) was learning the drums. Marilena had just started experimenting with writing music for the film Chevalier (dir by Athina Tsangari) and she called Gina and Maria to play along. The music didn’t make it to the film (except for the end credits song Never Find It) but the band was formed and the music was turned into songs that made it to our debut album Dance With You.
Provide us with some info about your latest release…
It’s titled Dance With You and it is our debut Album. It is the perfect soundtrack to unrequited love affairs.
Which ones would you consider your main influences both music-wise & non-music-wise?
To Name just a few…Debussy, Pj Harvey, Delia Derbyshire, Kate bush, Madonna, Pet shop boys, John Maus, Moloko, Debbie Harry, Stevie Nicks,
M.I.A. AIR & John Carpenter (both his films & music).
In what way does your sound differ from the rest genre-related artists/bands and why should we listen to your music? In other words, how would you describe your sound?
It’s a mixture of dancy, full of arpeggiators and synths, electric guitars, 80’s drum rythms, melodramatic pop.
Please name your 3 desert islands albums, movies & books…
Lady in Satin Billie Holiday
Fleetwood Mac Rumors
Dr Faustus by Thomas Man
Mrs Dalloway by Virginia Woolf
All the short stories by Raymond Carver
Any Film by Agnes Varda
Vertigo by Alfred Hitchcock
Jaws by Steven Spielberg
Do you prefer studio or performing live and why?
Can’t choose one over the other. Studio time is about creating and experimenting with new music, live shows are about the energy and the connection with the crowd.
Is there any funny-unique story you would like to share with us, always in relation to your music ‘career’?
Haha. One time, Maria our drummer was super stressed before a live show and she took a stress relief pill. Well… she almost zoned out while playing the drums. We made it through the whole live though!
Which track of your own would you point out as the most unique and why?
Dance With You. Marilena wrote the song over one night when she couldn’t sleep. It is a weird passive aggressive dance pop song.
Would you like to share with our readers your future plans?
We are already recording songs for our second album, we have four new music videos on the way and we will write the soundtrack to a short film (written and directed by Maria Hatzakou, our drummer!)
Free question!!! (Ask yourself a question) you wish to answer and haven’t been given the opportunity…
What would be our dream show…
Our dream show would be, to be a part of an extraordinary cat walk. We would like to write an electronic dance soundtrack for a fashion show, perform it live during the cat walk and get dressed with the designer’s clothes.
