What inspired you to first start making music? And how did you come to be in your current incarnation? Or if you prefer, a brief bio about you.

Travis – Harvey and I are both barbers and had been working together on and off for about five years. The off end of it tied the band together best as we both were drinking and doing drugs quite regularly. I was a little better at keeping it in check and ended up firing Harvey from the place we worked. we both ended up quitting (drugs & booze) everything around the same time as leaving the place we worked at. Sobriety gives you a lot of free time, and over thanksgiving 2016 Harvey and I went to a music store and I heard him play drums for the first time (I play guitar) and just knew we had to make music together. We rented a shared space in an abandoned office building and between six months, a lot of arguing and a turnover of different musicians (a couple more changes over the past couple of years) we somehow had six songs and that’s pretty much how it all started.

Provide us with some info about your latest release…

Travis – the song came together really quickly, I showed Harvey a riff I’d been working on and while we walked through Stanley Park (we were trying to get scalp tickets for Father John Misty) we worked on the melody and the chorus, brought it to practice and other than finer points it came together rather fast. Harvey – Just yours lyrically is a song about the ways in which people find each other. It’s about accepting that you love someone and realizing the gratitude for being able to experience such a feeling. It’s about trusting the heart, and leaning into the moment without expectation on the future. We can find joy in the mystery, even when it’s confusing or even difficult.

Which ones would you consider your main influences both music-wise & non-music-wise?

Honestly we’re game to listen to anything as long as there’s a groove and a chill message!

In what way does your sound differ from the rest genre-related artists/bands and why should we listen to your music? In other words, how would you describe your sound?

Loaded question! I feel we’re actually lucky because there is no genre that we really fit into neatly, we call it sunburnt surf, cosmic cowboy or just shrug.. everyone in the band has diverse interests and styles that when we finish an arrangement of a song it always sound like us.. literally every persons account of our style or genre changes but I’m happy with that.

Please name your 3 desert islands albums, movies & books…

Harvey –  widowspeak- all Yours, field of dreams, Ram Dass- be here now

Travis – Steely Dan – The royal scam, the royal tenenbaums, Jesus son by Dennis Johnson

Do you prefer studio or performing live and why?

Playing live for sure. It’s the most fun, and the reason we really got into making music.

Is there any funny-unique story you would like to share with us, always in relation to your music ‘career’?

One show we played harvey lept up on stage from the crowd during the intro to the first song and tore a huge hole in the crotch of his pants! Harvey never wears underwear, and he had to sing the rest of the show positioned in a way as to not reveal himself all the while trying to run to the green room, find a spare pair of jeans and finish our set.

Which track of your own would you point out as the most unique and why?

I would honestly have to say the songs were about to record next month all all of those things the groove is still there but these songs are a bit more personal and a lot more thought out.

Would you like to share with our readers your future plans?

We’re headed into the studio in June to record 10 new songs for our first LP. We’ll be working with a new producer (Johnny Payne) and feel each time we write new songs they get a little better. Can’t wait to share t with the world!

Free question!!! (Ask yourself a question) you wish to answer and haven’t been given the opportunity…
