What inspired you to first start making music? And how did you come to be in your current incarnation? Or if you prefer, a brief bio about you.

I blame Abba, The Beatles and the Eurovision Song Contest among others! Then one thousand years passed and here I am without a label or a hard-working band. Just a tiny Greco-Belgian (hehe) genius detective composing sweet harmonic ditties, still hoping in vain…

Provide us with some info about your latest release…

Sorry but I’m releasing my new Poirot album before winter arrives so I’d rather mention that instead. It’s called September Arrhythmia, it’s a mixture of old unheard a n d new songs, probably my best one so far. A slick return to my strictly-no-drums lo-fi home-studio policy!

Which ones would you consider your main influences both music-wise & non-music-wise?

Sticking to “music-wise” for a reason, I’d go with The Beach Boys, XTC, Prefab Sprout, Pixies, Joe Jackson and Robyn Hitchcock.

In what way does your sound differ from the rest genre-related artists/bands and why should we listen to your music? In other words, how would you describe your sound?

I’ve been mastering recently a slightly twisted approach to the way my work sounds. It’s basically acoustic with everything else quietly gathering around my guitar and voice. Toy Productions LTD! It’s interesting and unique, underproduced and unedited but rather beautiful and warm. Check it out.

Please name your 3 desert islands albums, movies & books…

Albums: SENATOR FLUX – Spectacles, Testicles, Wallet & Watch
THE BEACH BOYS – Friends
XTC – English Settlement

Movies: Dolls / Mulholland Drive / Just Friends

Books: Ask Noel Gallagher…

Do you prefer studio or performing live and why?

Studio of course! I lost all interest in performing live (mostly because of dumb and uninterested audiences) long ago..

Is there any funny-unique story you would like to share with us, always in relation to your music ‘career’?

The Stalone story is worth mentioning arguably! When a Canadian FB friend of mine, Blinker The Star’s Jordon Zadorozny (whom I’d firstly approached as a fan) became a fan of my own music himself and went on to ask me if I would be interested in forming a trans-atlantic group with him. So to sum it up, besides Poirot you can hear bits of me in Stalone, Pillow, The Liarbirds, Wild Honey and The Beatles Live Tribute Band aka The Greek Beats.

Which track of your own would you point out as the most unique and why?

Down The Line off my Egyptian album is a good example. I always prefer music situations in which I’m just not doing “me”, you know. And DTL is one of them. I also miss the raw darkness of those first Poirot days.

Would you like to share with our readers your future plans?

We already told the world about my upcoming September Arrhythmia thing (always on Bandcamp) which I’m extremely proud of. Other than that, maybe the freshly reformed Pillow will start jamming again some of my new tunes, Stalone will carry on releasing singles I guess, oh and I definitely have to finish an acoustic Greek album I started recording at Morph Flow studios last spring. With more and more Poirot on the way until you all “get it”.

Free question!!! (Ask yourself a question) you wish to answer and haven’t been given the opportunity…

Why did you give up on love, George?

Erm, no comment? 🙂
