What inspired you to first start making music? And how did you come to be in your current incarnation? Or if you prefer, a brief bio about you.

I started late with music making even though I was always a fan. I didn’t imagine I could be one of the people making music. My first band was Minimal Compact – in the 80’s. It’s probably the thing I’m best known for. I’ve also been in 2 other “serious” bands both with my life & music partner Colin Newman. They are Githead & Immersion. This new album is only my 4th solo album. I’m also a visual artist & Colin & I have a weekly radio show called Swimming In Sound.

Provide us with some info about your latest release…

The album is made of 2 parts. Gliding – is an EP I made based on recordings of my touring band which only came out digitally. Hiding is reworked versions of my 90’s EP “Hide”.

Which ones would you consider your main influences both music-wise & non-music-wise?

Music – The Beatles & Shoegaze (electric & electronic)

Other – Lomography, sound and image meeting in the same place. Visual lo-fi before lo-fi was even a thing in music.

In what way does your sound differ from the rest genre-related artists/bands and why should we listen to your music? In other words, how would you describe your sound?

Personally I think music you can define easily is boring. Genre in music is boring. Obviously what I do doesn’t come out of nowhere but I hope it can connect to people on an instinctive level.

Please name your 3 desert islands albums, movies & books…

MUSIC – Magical Mystery Tour, Loveless, the upcoming Horsegirl album

MOVIES – Lost In Translation, Nomadland, Get Back

BOOKS – I want 3 books I haven’t read yet

Do you prefer studio or performing live and why?

That’s like comparing gardening & cooking! You can’t compare they each have their good and bad points.

Is there any funny-unique story you would like to share with us, always in relation to your music ‘career’?

Which track of your own would you point out as the most unique and why?

It’s not up to me to say

Would you like to share with our readers your future plans?

We have been doing some recordings towards Immersion related projects and also planning the follow on to Nanocluster vol. 1 (vol 2). We are setting up some interesting collaborations it’s much too early to share information about.

Continuing with our radio show, we have been doing a 2 hour weekly show on Brighton station Slack City for nearly 2 years now. You can also find an archive on the internet just search Swimming In Sound.

Free question!!! (Ask yourself a question) you wish to answer and haven’t been given the opportunity…
