What inspired you to first start making music? And how did you come to be in your current incarnation? Or if you prefer, a brief bio about you.

It wasn’t really a conscious decision. I tried to talk myself out of it, in fact. I guess it was more like letting out a scream when you’re scared–an emotional response to my surroundings.
The current Fauvely incarnation came through making mistakes, finding the right people, and learning to communicate. I’m still learning.

Provide us with some info about your latest release…

Tides is based on my hometown, Savannah. It’s nostalgic, dreamy, emotional. I live in Chicago and I was missing the saltwater and the humidity, and music seemed like a good vehicle to get me there.

Which ones would you consider your main influences both music-wise & non-music-wise?

In what way does your sound differ from the rest genre-related artists/bands and why should we listen to your music? In other words, how would you describe your sound?

It’s really heartfelt and genuine. Sometimes I wish I wrote happier music that people could dance to, but I guess it’s more like music to listen to to feel less alone.

Please name your 3 desert islands albums, movies & books…

Shadows Collide with People by John Frusciante, Teen Dream by Beach House, Harvest by Neil Young

Salvage the Bones by Jesmyn Ward, Once Upon a River by Bonnie Jo Campbell, and A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith

Do you prefer studio or performing live and why?

Performing live because I want to connect with people, not a click track. Recording can be very tedious, though when you’re able to discover something new in the process, it’s extremely rewarding.

Is there any funny-unique story you would like to share with us, always in relation to your music ‘career’?

Which track of your own would you point out as the most unique and why?

Maybe Waning. It has this waltz-like feel to it. I have a strange fantasy of playing it in a big, open country barnyard at night.

Would you like to share with our readers your future plans?

We’re working on some new songs, spending a lot of time together as a band figuring out what’s working and what’s not. We also have some studio time booked in November.
Our next show is November 4 @ Uncommon Ground with Poor Calvin  & Nikki Morgan , Chicago.

Free question!!! (Ask yourself a question) you wish to answer and haven’t been given the opportunity…

How do you give back through music?

I volunteer with Musicians on Call, a program that brings live music to the bedside of patients in healthcare facilities. My program is at Lurie Children’s Hospital. I also recently wrote and recorded a song for Sing Me a Story, and I’ve performed for Girls Rock! Chicago, a non-profit that empowers girls, transgender, and gender non-conforming youth to create music.
