What inspired you to first start making music? And how did you come to be in your current incarnation? Or if you prefer, a brief bio about you.

Doing music in one way or another was always my plan. I’ve always loved listening to music and I’ve been singing and writing songs for as long as I can remember. As I was getting more serious with my writing I started to feel what styles I was connecting with most emotionally and from there the idea of how I wanted my own project to sound started taking shape.

Provide us with some info about your latest release…

“Breathe Out Breathe In (Natascha Polke Remix)” is really more like a remake than a remix as Natascha has completely re-dressed the original track in this electronic and atmospheric production. Natascha and I met a few years ago in London and she’s become one of my best friends. It’s been so amazing to work with her and I’m always blown away by her talent.

Which ones would you consider your main influences both music-wise & non-music-wise?

I’ve always gathered inspiration from all over the place so it’s hard to pin down just a few names but if I’m going to mention a few that inspire me musically right now I’d say Alt-J, Alice Phoebe Lou and The Kills. Non-music-wise I’d say all people that are in tune with themselves and aren’t trapped in their own heads playing games or worrying about what other people think of them inspire me.

In what way does your sound differ from the rest genre-related artists/bands and why should we listen to your music? In other words, how would you describe your sound?

I’ve often been told my voice and my layered harmonies plays a big part in creating my unique sound and I agree. My productions are very atmospheric and I enjoy mixing both organic and electronic elements. I co-produced three of the tracks with producer and engineer Lucas Mendes (The Park Studios, London) and together we created these big, distorted synth and guitar led productions to contrast the softer melodies in my songwriting. We had a great time doing it and he really helped me realise exactly what I wanted with those tracks!

Please name your 3 desert islands albums, movies & books…

Answers are in no particular order:

Albums: Relaxer (Alt-J), For Emma, Forever Ago (Bon Iver), Spending Time With Morgan (Ane Brun)

Movies: Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Shrek (no particular one, just give me one of them and I’ll be fine)

Books: Grief is the Thing With Feathers (Max Porter), The Emperor of Portugallia (Selma Lagerlöf), The Lord of the Ring trilogy (I know that’s three books in itself and that this is cheating, but those things happen).

Do you prefer studio or performing live and why?

Both. I love being creative in the studio and I love connecting with people through music when I’m on stage. I really can’t choose between the two.

Is there any funny-unique story you would like to share with us, always in relation to your music ‘career’?

Once when I was watching Natascha and Ceri play with their band Rive, Ceri was tuning her guitar and as she was re-tuning completely it took a little longer than usual. It was dead-silent in the room and for some reason I thought this was a great opportunity to show my true colours as a friend and shouted “TELL A JOKE CERI”! As a result I now live in constant fear that she will take out her revenge whenever I go silent for too long on stage with her in the audience…

Which track of your own would you point out as the most unique and why?

They’re all different in their own ways but I think ‘Vild/Little Things’ are the ones that stand out the most on the EP. They’re just super atmospheric and allow the listener to drift away completely.

Would you like to share with our readers your future plans?

I’m currently writing new songs and I’m so excited to get back in the studio and allow my creativity to go wild with them!
